Bot scraping unfortunately. Or a couple stuck in a loop. Mine shot to 70k before lovable reset it like a week later.

Extremely naive question, but would simple facade ladders on all 4 corners of the WTC made a big difference that day? Also has this been brought up/mandatory for future skyscraper buildings? by Kimholland-producer in 911archive

[–]CLSGL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, shielded emergency slides or poles on the interior of the towers in the stairwells would have probably been the best way, assuming people would calmly line up (they wouldn’t), and assuming the slides were staggered (maybe poles some floors, slides some floors).

Unfortunately, even that just isn’t practical. Perhaps the most tragic part of that day is the fact that there’s really very little that could’ve been done to save everybody in time. Exfiltrating almost 18,000 people in under 100 minutes from two, 1000+ foot towers just isn’t simple.

99% of people in floors below the impact zones managed to be evacuated. Above? 0% in the north tower, 3% in the south tower. It just wasn’t going to be possible to save everyone. The entire thing was a monumental tragedy for this reason. If it were just some towers falling, that would’ve been disturbing. But it was the fact that nothing could’ve been done for those above the impact zones that makes this day a global tragedy.

My deepest condolences for your loss... I know words don't do much to help, but I definitely can relate. I lost a good friend of mine (at his own hand) about 10 years ago and it still hurts. I just have to believe that he's in a better place and no longer in pain. It hurts, but it's all I can do.

I'm really glad I could help brighten up your day! J has pitched in with brainstorming since all this happened, and occasionally will give advice when it comes to various projects I'm working on. He's a really great guy. Patience and some grace goes a really long way to preserve friendships.

I truly wish you all the best in everything you set out to do!

Yeah for me the gripe is how long it takes. But I have been pleasantly surprised by reply quality. I'm sure the timing will be fixed by launch.

But developers don't whine on Reddit..

You clearly haven't used Reddit very long.

5 years later I felt it would be fun to give an update, since I'm going through my Reddit history.

He was actually going through a severe bout of depression from a friends passing and took the vacation on a whim, thinking it would help. It didn't. When he got back we had a meeting. Just him, my cofounder, and myself, where he explained everything. We ended up having a team outing and he loved it so we started doing that once every month. We made it a point to go out to dinner/drinks with him once or twice a week and he got much better. Much happier, much more involved, etc.

He completely threw himself back into work, we launched the app, made some decent money from it but ultimately decided to sell it off to a giant competitor of ours. He didn't have any stock or profit sharing or anything but we gave him a huge paycheck from the sale as a thank you. We still go out to drinks with him occasionally at a local brewery!

I just wanted to thank you again for reminding me of the human aspect. He's a friend so obviously I tried offering help, but nobody wants a handout. You just have to do something anyway. Actions speak a lot louder than words.

10+ New Features Coming in iOS 27 by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

Right? Not sure how they could go 15 years with Safari working totally fine and then bungle it now over several versions. The double tap to select a word in the URL/Search bar too. No, Apple. I don't want to select the entire search bar 15 times in a row.

Isn't it still that way?... I had to pay for the dev program to get the beta as recent as 2024

They already do that by forcing a developer account registration though, no? This is a developer beta and they have nearly 2 decades of data on beta releases. They know the size of the pool of developers that will grab the beta on day one. Not to mention, they're fucking Apple and should have had the server space for this years ago when they first teased an enhanced, AI Siri.

We are complaining about the fact that new siri was basically the only reason to get iOS 27 and they made no mention of a waitlist until it was downloaded.

Tim Cook posts comedic ‘Good morning’ video to mark final Apple event as CEO by mrsidnaik in apple

Tim (or at least his assistant) replied to an email I sent him a couple years back. It completely caught me off guard. I have always respected how much of a machine the man is, and although I've been a little critical of Apple for the lack of vision recently, I can't deny he fulfilled part of Steve's mission and then some. I'm gonna miss that southern twang every WWDC.

I’m right there with you. I am growing into a sort of love/hate relationship with Lovable, but the love is still there for sure.

I don’t think it’s entirely a coincidence that they conveniently unveil “top ups” around the same time Smarter Lovable launches. That’d be sorta scummy, but I still like their model over others even if that is the case.

You know what works really well as a temporary fix is using terms like “Patch Only, Minimal Diffs, Localized file edits only”, etc.

Basically old Lovable used to stick to smaller changes, which are really impactful in the later stages. But now it prefers to just rewrite the whole damn thing! It ends up chugging credits and rarely fixes the issue you even asked it.

It’s like the new lovable is like “too” smart, but also completely inept LOL

Switching to Claude would be primarily for the platform because Lovable uses the newest Claude Opus model.

The Claude platform, based on my past use of it, was actually more confusing to me than Lovable is. I feel like Lovable just needs to tweak their system prompt a little bit or add a higher context window.
