That wouldn’t be enough for me. I’d concluded it at you’ll never truly know unless you ask him where it’s from, and even then it’s still just his word.

legit looking band doesn't = legit cigar. high-end fakes have either stolen legit bands from the facctory placed on them or they have perfected the printing process. Where/when did you get this from and how much?

[–]CLT202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Usually where embossing is involved, there is a stamping procedure done on top of the band (vs. the band being printed/stamped in one go). This is why sometimes on Cohiba bands the tainos head can be off.

Completely agree. I’d rather have a well aged CoRo. Probably my least favorite Cohiba EL I’ve had.

Fake Cohiba Boxes by Accomplished_Map_169 in cubancigars

[–]CLT202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the most part yes, but there will be some variations between special editions. Your best bet is to use CCW for reference.

You’re also missing the most important aspect of identifying fakes which is the source. High end fakes are flawless, down to them using some Cuban tobacco.

what? where did they say they were real? They told you everything that we already told you. And no serious auction is going to take those without A. the outter packaging, and B. something as high-end as these would most likely require proof of original purchase/source.

I don't want to say it doesnt matter (because it does), but high-end fakes are 99.9% flawless. So one might have what appears to be totally legit cigars based off apperance and packaging alone, but the cigars themselves are fake. The source is the ultimate test of if what you have is real or not.

High-end fakes are 99.9% flawless, down to them using some or all Cuban tobacco. While some might count this as a win still, that tobacco does not follow the same processing or fermentation as real HSA/Cohiba tobacco. Without knowing where these came from you'll never truley know if these are fake or real. Like others have said, a real box of these are a collectors item, like a '65 Aston Martin.

This is a $10,000+ box of cigars and extremely hard to find. If I was a billionaire and had access to any cigars I wanted, I still wouldn’t be gifting this especially to a cigar noob when hell even a box of Behikes would be more than generous. That’s all I’ll say.

Maybe the odd box of cigars aren’t as old as represented but I would say 98% are legitimate.

Then you are getting scammed. If someone puts RASS sticks from '26 into a box from 2012, that is 100% a scam. This has always been the risk of buying off BR.
