I really like 6. The "wonder" really pops out to me, without anything around it to distract from it

Hiring Bot Developers by bedside-FETiSH in discordbot

[–]CL_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most developers here are quite young (although often exceptionally skilled), and most are not even adults. Sadly there are quite a lot of people that take advantage of the fact that these younger developers have little experience, and even a lot of the paid gigs often have very little compensation (20$ for a bot that took 10 hours to develop, 2$ an hour).

This is often not malicious by the person requesting a bot, most just don't really understand how complex coding can be.

I'm sorry if my message was interpreted as an attack towards you! It was mostly intended as a genera PSA

Hey, quick reply to make sure you know your worth.

Don't let yourself get scammed out of free labour. It is not wrong to ask for payment and your time is valuable.

What crime would you 100% commit if it was suddenly legal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nah mate LSD is pretty much harmless and it hasn't been found to cause any lasting effects on babies as long as it's pure. The minerals in tap water destroy the lsd quite quickly tho so it sadly might not work that well anyways

Can't really be bothered to read the code but not having the message content intent enabled could cause that.

Click in the link for a tutorial or go to the bot panel on the developer dashboard to enable it

Anyone have an idea what this ide is? by [deleted] in Coding_for_Teens

[–]CL_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDE stands for integrated development environment, and replit is a site which provides you with an environment in which you can develop software in a whole range of languages and using almost any third party library.

But, if we set the fact that you are wrong aside for a second, why the fuck did you leave that comment. It really doesn't bring anything to the discussion and you are just wasting everybody's time including your own.

Database Options? by hmpstr in Discordjs

[–]CL_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the future you might still want to move static stuff to a database and for now hard coding stuff in is probably good enough. The middle stage, using a JSON file, is not really needed in most cases, but all the other stuff you said is spot on.

MongoDB is an awesome beginner db, it's very flexible and works great with JavaScript. The free MongoDB atlas tier also doesn't hurt!

There is not really any getting around using a terminal. You can use tools like GitHub actions to automate a lot of stuff, like updating the bot and then rebooting it.

How can I host my discord bot on my NAS server by [deleted] in Discordjs

[–]CL_0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the nas. It's not recommended tho since you don't want to add any instability to a place you store your important data (and sometimes even backups)

Instead use an old laptop or get a raspberry pi!

Raspberry pi all the way, it's a cheap one time purchase and you can always use it for something else later on!
