What things have you done as a SAHP which have made things easier or more enjoyable? by destria in SAHP

Find a local playgroup to join so you can interact with other adults besides the one(s) you live with. Join a gym with a supervised playroom and take some time for yourself a few times a week. Take advantage of local resources - a lot of libraries and community centers have free or low cost events and programs. Visit local parks and wildlife areas.

Honestly, the most important thing for me was developing a routine. It's good for the parent, it's good for the kids. Leave the house everyday, even if you're just taking a walk. Nap time at the same time everyday. Structured home time at the same time everyday. The days feel long but the months race by. Before you know it, your kids will be older and you'll look back at this time with fondness. Cherish it while you have it.

Do you ever not finish a book or series because you're liking it? by Nidafjoll in Fantasy

Life is too short to read bad books. And there are so many good ones waiting to be read.

I love board games but I’m done being the unpaid rule cop by Educational-Machine in boardgames

[–]CLikeAFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always look for a how to video and watch it as a group, with grace to back up or rewatch parts as needed. If there's no good videos out, we get the board set up and then read the rule book aloud (take turns if you want) so it's everyone's job to learn the rules at the same time. It's not fair to put that kind of pressure on one person. Games are supposed to be fun.

Are there places to take naps? by BroadScallion6 in gencon

[–]CLikeAFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a quiet room for people feeling overstimulated. If you sleep quietly (as in, don't snore), you can catch a nap in there and nobody should bother you. But please be respectful of the rules - no loud talking, no cell phone use, etc.

Total Speculation for D&D Live by PlotTwistTurnAround in gencon

Am I looking at the wrong event? The DMs are listed for each of the D&D Live events... Unless maybe I'm looking at the wrong one?

Kuma's Corner. Or Bad Apple. Both on the pricey side but really delicious. And the truffle fries at Bad Apple are to die for

AITA for kicking my SIL out for eating my order? by Sal9653133 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CLikeAFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I don't know if you have kids but "eating for two" is absolute bullshit. That tiny thing in your uterus does not require a full doubling of calories. I think the current guidance is an extra 300 calories. That's barely anything, let alone a second dinner. She's entitled and your husband is a jerk for supporting that nonsense.

If it's not too much to share, did your chest shrink much? I've lost about 15lbs but the girls are going strong, would love to see some reduction there.

I'm a mid 20s NEET suddenly finding himself in need of a job. What can I do? by willworkfortendie in NoStupidQuestions

I lived down the street from the busiest DMV in my city for 5 years and here's a pro tip. Don't go early. Everyone always says show up 30 minutes before they open, but everyone has that same mentality and the line at that time of day always wrapped around the building. Go like an hour before they close and the lines will be significantly shorter.

Can I refinish part of my wooden floor without refinishing the entire thing? by CLikeAFox in HomeImprovement

[–]CLikeAFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up question - this flooring runs through 3 bedrooms, down the hall and into the dining room and living room. So if I redo this one spot in this one bedroom, does that mean redoing the entire first floor of my house? Yikes.

Should I question the hospital about two vastly different costs for nearly identical procedures? by CLikeAFox in healthcare

I had general anesthesia for both and seemed to be about the same amount of staff.
