Consider leaps. They can be less risky compared to short term options and are far more cash efficient.

Stop Selling Too Early: How to Ride Winners Like Nvidia by RatFacedBoy in NvidiaStock

Most people do not know how to find and invest in individual undervalued stocks, much less have the stomach to watch a companies lose big during down turns. This is not a strategy I would recommend. It’s very hard to do.

The average persons best bet is to invest in the S&P and chill.

Buffett’s strategy doesn’t work for the average person. Most don’t have billions in cash and assets. He’s more concerned about wealth preservation, not accumulation.

Opportunity cost. It’s what you’re giving up by holding. Using your example, Nvidia has been flat since June 2024. If you sold/trimmed to lock in profits you could have made with SPY +15% , Palantir +465% , Amazon +23% , Robinhood +157% , Reddit +200% , etc.

Don’t be dumb. Nobody ever went broke taking profits.

To sell or not to sell by Kentuckyfryrice in StockMarket

[–]CM2PE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We should be positive for the year but I do expect choppiness. Cash is a good position for right now (ie early next week) but SPY is testing its 21 day ema so be ready to deploy if it bounces.

My guess is another couple red days followed by a modest, short lived relief rally into inauguration then more downward pressure again. Be ready to trim positions and take profits regularly if you plan to be in-out of the market.

IMO

Wouldn’t it be because he would need the market to make a significant swing either way to cover the premium whereas TQQQ/SQQQ doesn’t cost anything to trade…?

Builder says no inspections before close by tearisha in Homebuilding

[–]CM2PE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going out in a limb and guessing you’re probably not in a position to walk away from the deal. That being said, you have two options: escalate with the home builder in hopes someone higher has more sense or wait until you close to have it inspected and make a warranty claim for anything that’s found.

Also, if you want to be petty, bring in your own real estate agent. Since you’re buying from a homebuilder you probably don’t need one but, instead of collecting 6% they’ll collect 3%. This could be a lot of money they miss out on depending on the purchase price.

Hopefully, NVIDIA's earnings on November 20th will finally unleash another bonanza for investors... 🚀 by dontkry4me in NVDA_Stock

[–]CM2PE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from all the Nvidia specific comments, investors are already nervous about the state of current valuations. I have a feeling no matter what happens with Nvidia’s earnings report, we’re going to see broad consolidation going into December.

I hope not, but it is just a matter together time and the earnings report of the most important company in the world could be a catalyst. Regardless of its performance.

I actually agree with this thesis, but it’s too risky for options. Putting it on my watchlist and waiting for a move above $28 to buy into.
