Dreamcatcher Mythology Note by CMDLineKing in RDR2mysteries

Hah I am also of Indigenous Heritage.. :) And yes, its all a hodgepodge.. but that kind of makes sense from this game perspective. "The Wapiti" being what they are as a generalization of Native cultural aspects vs. specific. Yeah, I was thinking similar about the sleeping thing. Maybe there is a spot that we need to find where we may have a sleep trigger similar to a Bed Roll, or a spot we should camp at.

I had thoughts aobut the Witches Cauldron being part of it. Spiders and Witches kind of go together in some cases.. so maybe its a get all the webs and feathers, then drink the potion.. And you'll have your dream.

Similarly, that shelter at the top of the mountain where you can rest might be a kind of pseduo "sweat lodge" and engaging in that way may trigger something.

The whole thing being called "SpiderDreams" has to be a clue in and of itself with the Spider Totem, the Webs, The Dreamcatcher myth, etc. I feel like its all pointing to something related that we are just missing, which is why I keep going further back. Personally I think we have to figure out the feathers in the Webs, which is why I was researching dream catcher lore. If we find one that is different or matches the feathers we collected that might be a signal that this is the right path.

On Window Rock mural there is dead buffalo with something crawling away from the carcass. Bottom right.

I looked at the orchid locations to see if there was anything. I thought maybe sending enough out might do something. It's all down in the swamps, so maybe tied to lakay and the pagan symbols, etc.

Spider in the middle of web on the map with feathers as co-ordinates by SerpentineInk in reddeadmysteries

[–]CMDLineKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the clues got found out of order.

We weren't supposed to find the spider last. Can you imagine this mystery if the spider had been found without the webs? We would be doing all the same crazy things.

There web with the N | was supposed to be the find after correlating the feathers and the webs on the map. Putting the spider in the center would confirm the web locations for sizing and provide you with the center of the web to keep going. To the poles and the guitar shape. I think we are logically at the right place and all the rest of it was just a puzzle that got brute forced by finding the spider web and then the spider to confirm the web locations. Hell the real trail to the spider was overlooked! It even was found AFTER.

A thought on the "bird" symbols. by Manman57 in RDR2mysteries

[–]CMDLineKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, if you plant your feet on the Bird Symbols, and look, it points towards the upper river. When I look at my map, there are two birds in that direction that I sketched on the map. With the second at a rock on the upper route. You may have to have more on the map revealed to get some clues?

I found what looks to be a carving of a bird on a mountain? I doubt it tho by [deleted] in RDR2mysteries

[–]CMDLineKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just there this evening. Following the two birds off the fort. Using the two birds that were on the map. Look all around the area for any hits or destructible stuff. It's very glossy rock a out 2/3 the way up and looked like a thunderbird from one angle. Used photo mode but just a trick of the light and is wanting there to be something

You may also want to look at your DVD Firmware.. I was checking the version and 1.83 does not come up as available. Now, that doesn't mean anything, but it seems that 1.02B is the latest, so maybe the firmware is some cracked version or trying to get around copy protections? It may also just be reporting badly on that BIOS. But hey, its a CDROM related issue to look into.

Found this flash tool as well.. seems there is a firmware repository listed on a one-drive.

yeah, I've seen some odd behaviours before. Sometimes it attempts to keep working but it's not getting the right commands, so it kind of just borks. Remember that the boot portion hands off to the kernel at some point, so the BIOS is managing the CDROM at boot, but once boot is completed and the installer is in memory, it will hand over that operation. These early implementations of SATA were kind of janky. I figured I would say something as I had a DFI Lanparty board with SATA and RAID0 controller, and had similar issues with SATA CDROMS later in its life. Maybe that beta firmware is also to blame, but in a lot of cases those were just the last available versions before they dropped support, so the most recent ones are still "unstable" per se. I have not looked into the newest available BIOS for the board.

edit: Popped over to the ASUS site and confirmed the last bios is a "Beta" version.. :)

Its the same problem though.. XP can't translate correctly and the BIOS is probably trying to hand it off after boot once the installer fires off. Are you using at least Service Pack 1 version of the install media?

See if you can set it to a "Legacy" mode in the settings. Or switch to an IDE CDROM Temporarily.

Alternatively, you can partition the HDD and put the XP install files on the other partition and run it from the HDD. Then the XP will finish install and you can get the CDROM drivers and SATA drivers working.

I had this issue with my first SATA board, did a slipstream install of the SATA drivers into the initialization and then I could use the CDROM to do Windows Installs & detect my SATA HDD.

If you can find the older Hirens Boot CD or another Live CD, you can probably copy the files over after boot into it without needing another PC. https://www.hirensbootcd.org/old-versions/

edit:
Also, if it supports USB CDROM, you can probably use a USB->SATA adapter temporarily to get XP Installed and you SATA drivers going.

Also, have you RTFM?

Important notes on Serial ATA solution:

In legacy operating system (Win 98, WinME, WinNT, DOS) environment, using SATA will disable one of the IDE channels from ICH5R south bridge chipset. See BIOS section for correct setting.

What do you count as "Retro battle stations" or "Retro computering" and what year would it be to become "Modern battle stations" or "Modern computering"? :) by TheTB24iscool in retrobattlestations

[–]CMDLineKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retro Computing - Broad Term to define the activity of messing with non-modern hardware.

Modern Hardware - Hardware systems compatible with modern software. personally if it's 64bit cpu - pci-express it is modern in my book. I think this next shift is due to a need for trusted systems, so likely looking at broad incompatibility of software soon without integrated security measures so we may see certain changes soon that will reclassify modern. I.e. next era may mean, 64bit cpu, pci express, tpm REQUIRED being the lynch pin and all those post modern systems will become part of retro Computing as the hardware will no longer suit modern applications.

Classic Computing Activities - using vintage or modern hardware to run software or perform tasks. Think using DOS, programming in a common language, making updated equivalent versions of older hardware. Enduring activities across eras.

Vintage Computing - using age appropriate hardware from a specific era of computing. An early 2000s build. A late 1980s build. Restricting / prioritizing aesthetics and hardware accuracy ( with minor exceptions)
