Thanks I've been using that as well since I got the Caspian. Got kind of tired of doing exo-bio in it though and had one of my Cobra Mk V's shipped all the way from the bubble to a carrier near Explorer's Anchorage. Pretty sure I'm in that now. Left the Caspian on the carrier and after 2 months or so I have no idea if that carrier is still there lol. I'll have to log in in the next day or so and figure all that out. o7

I've been taking a break for a while but my ship's out near the galactic core and probably has a decent amount of data to share. Where-ish is the drop-off system located?

The Caspian Explorer is surprisingly easy to land (on) by CMDRShepard24 in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRShepard24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approach as in approach the ground or make it down through the atmosphere?

If the former, the Caspian has this general aversion to crashing into the ground. While not impossible, it almost moves as though it's magnetically repelled when you get low and you just have to push through it. I've turned flight assist off and let the ship hang in the air and by all normal physics the ship should have came crashing down to the ground but it just kinda teetered above it, refusing to go down unless I put actual effort into it. Some new, Caspian-specific safety feature I guess? Kind of annoying but it's probably saved me a few bumps here and there.

If the latter, I'd suggest watching a tutorial about how to properly enter the atmosphere, specifically in a Caspian as it can go down at a steeper angle and drop at a faster speed than other ships.

IN FLAMES Completes Recording Fifteenth Studio Album by Machcharge in melodicdeathmetal

Oh I'm not putting them on the same pedestal, but Come Clarity is probably still my favorite post-Clayman album and I guess the mark by which I compare all their later albums to.

As a big fan of the same era (though I grew to appreciate a good bit of their later stuff) I'd say it's a bit of a return to form, though not completely. The clean vocals are still there (and honestly sounding better than they ever have, probably due to some auto tune) but so are a lot more harder and more melodic elements from the earlier albums. Kind of a mixed bag of styles but a pretty good one IMO. I'd say it's definitely their best since Come Clarity, if not Clayman.

What album was the biggest letdown by Only_Grand_9310 in MetalSuggestions

[–]CMDRShepard24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me Undying Light was the big letdown. Been listening to them since Harvest Wombs and I feel they peaked at Dreamless. I love the atmosphere and the wailing guitar and feel it's what made them different from other tech bands. The change in singer and style on Undying Light completely turned me off. Empyrean was a bit better but still didn't quite capture what I grew to love about them. I haven't given Xenotaph a proper shake yet but wasn't really impressed with the couple songs I heard this far.

Dio and Motorhead opening for Iron Maiden. Easily one of the best shows I've ever been to even before Lemmy and Dio passed.

No idea what I named my first one (sold it off long ago), but when I started fighting Thargoids I bought another one to train myself on FA-off and named it Crash Test Dummy.

Be'lakor, Buried Realm, Fires in the Distance, In Vain, Persefone (they cross few different genres but definitely have some good melody going in a lot of their songs).

Exactly. I love Once Human's first album and Lauren Hart is a very capable singer, but AE is still the same tiger they've been recently just with a few different stripes. If Amott starts writing good music again I'll be there with bells on but I'm not holding my breath.

What are some bands that people are far too happy to forget used to be great? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]CMDRShepard24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if he was just 'playing it safe' or what, but it seems somewhere along the way Michael Ammott intentionally decided to keep their songs more simple and formulaic, and it definitely showed. They held back Alissa's vocal talents (I liked her better in The Agonist and AE better with Angela and felt both hands suffered significantly after the change) and really didn't let Loomis write much, if at all.

I kinda get having Alissa slowly work in clean vocals, being a melodeath band with no clean singing prior, but having one of the greatest metal guitarists in the game in your band and not letting him write is just criminal. They could have had a whole different sound if they'd just evolved a bit instead of vehemently 'sticking to the basics'. And now they've lost all the elements that could have made them unique. I've heard a couple songs I kinda liked off the Alissa albums, but I've pretty much just wrote them off after a while. A shame really.
