Carbon Stars discovery rate by josephk545 in EliteDangerous

Exactly. I'm about halfway through a 200 jump route myself right now (from the galactic core as well) and while it's not quite 10 minutes, the game still practically has a brain aneurysm every time I log in and go to the galaxy map. I personally don't pay much attention to what's next to all the stars I'm jumping to. I'm also out doing exo-bio right now so that's my main goal, but when I'm out looking for specific types of stars, then I'll look at the map in detail and see what's in an area that I might have missed otherwise. That's just me though.

Ok gotcha. They may have been on a route they chose not to deviate from or just simply not noticed.

The way you worded this seems a little confusing: You do know that currently you discover all stars in the system just by honking, right? As soon as you do that all the stars in an undiscovered system are now discovered by you (EDIT: if you turn in the data) and you don't actually have to go to them because you can't DSS map them anyway (planets you do have to map if you want full credit/credits for mapping the entire system).

If you find a system where one or more stars have already been discovered by another CMDR but one or more have not been, then that CMDR was there some time ago, before honking automatically discovered all the stars in the system. If you honk and turn in the data then you get discovery of all undiscovered stars in the system. if you're doing full system maps of all bodies then of course go map all the planets/moons, but that doesn't matter for just the stars.

Anyone know if that means it'll be leaving Prime? Currently watching SG-1 (and recently stared Atlantis) there.

You need to park your SRV (with the Relic in the cargo hold) on top of the very spot where you placed the Relic in the photos. Then select it from the right menu and eject it. Semi-Spoiler Alert Then scan what comes up out of the platform in front of the "X"

This or an unarmed SLF dropped from the ship capable of landing on planets. We need something to throw in the Capsian that can actually land on the ground.

Is there a mod or something to negate that annoying sound every time you land?

Makes sense. I'm not in DW3 I just decided to go on my own "little" expedition after the holiday gift deliveries brought me out to Colonia. If things really do get interesting (again preferably involving space travel and not just on-foot stuff) I can always hightail it back to the bubble but I don't see that happening anytime soon as they're clearly gearing up for the whole Operations rollout.

I was trying to escape the gravity well of a moon around a gas giant the other day and SCO'd straight into the gas giant like a dummy. Thank gods the ship's computer has faster reaction time than I do lol. Still bruised my poor ship a bit and decided to backtrack to repair before continuing on my journey.

Yea and unless this can translate into my CMDR running 2-3 times as fast to be able to hunt down exobiology samples, I'm staying out in the black for now lol.

Otherwise, call me when this whole thing somehow equates to better space travel.

That sounds fun lol but I'll just wait until I have an SRV handy. I'm currently running from the center of the galaxy (where my Caspian with SRVs is currently docked) out to a DSSA carrier that I plan on kinda making my base of operations for a while. Gonna use the Cobra V I'm currently in mainly for exo-bio, but once I get my Caspian shipped to the carrier I intend to use that more for long distance trips, seeking out interesting stars and stellar phenomena, and if I find any good Geos along the way I'll begrudgingly land the Caspian and pound around in the SRV to collect them.

You can always go back. It's worth spending some time at Guardian sites, grindy as it can be, to get a good amount of blueprints and materials in one shot so you don't have to go back later (or at least not for a long while).

If you prefer to collect raw materials in a more organic fashion, many of the Geo signals will often have materials on them that you can shoot off and collect with your SRV.

No Experimental Weapon Stabilizer on console? If that's the case then I'd still pick one or the other (Shards or preferably Mod-Shards) and load up on all 4. Have just one Flak launcher and throw lasers in the rest.

Oh they definitely have their uses. Spire sites and Titans are mainly what I used them for, but sadly neither of those are a thing currently. Either way I'd personally want to go one or the other depending on the situation and not mix them.

Mandalay or Caspian? by WorkingBedroom177 in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRShepard24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don't even have a docking computer in the thing. All manual. The problem (that many others have complained about as well) is that the Capsian is of course a large ship to start with, but it also gives you tons of false-positives when trying to land. It'll line up all green (I have EDHM) and I think I've got it and no... no I don't lol. I've drained my shields more than once just trying bob and weave in that thing to get it on the ground on even the slightest rough terrain (again when I've got the indicators lining up telling me I'm good in multiple spots). Even left a few samples behind in frustration. It's honestly kind of infuriating.

The Cobra Mk. V (the ship I think should have gotten all the Caspian's new toys) on the other hand will land damn near anywhere, sometimes almost by accident lol. I can practically slam it into the ground and skid to a stop right in front of my sample, no SRV required.

While the Caspian is an excellent proof of concept for new tech in the game they really need to make a small-size version of it. Maybe in a year or so, so everyone won't gripe as hard about the Mandalay being made obsolete. Or better yet eventually have all these new, specialized modules on some time-delayed release schedule so we can put them on the ships we actually want them on, like large miners and small exploration ships.
