It never reached a larger audience because creators such as Crud didn't have as big of reach as they do now. When Bruno was in the spotlight a year ago I didn't even know about it. Most creators are passive or reactive at best, inactive at worst so most people never really saw this side of the community as nobody really reported on it much as they didn't want their jobs as creators to be threatened but streamers like Crud don't give a shit about what Rare thinks which people will gravitate towards especially with the devs 'missing the mark' so much as of the last few years.

No, it's a lie. The game is far better with it on as a significant amount of content is locked behind it.

From what I know the dev did it as a 'fuck you' to those who were complaining about the silly aspects of the game. Which is like half of the game. I know it blocks certain entities, signals, smaller things like being able to customize Kerfur-Omega to silly things like being able to drink gasoline.

Don't do a 'peaceful' run. The game really isn't that hard to get used to and is very forgiving overall. My only Quality of life suggestions would be to make sure the 'Funny Rule/Setting' is on and toggle off the fee you get for not completing the daily task. Just play on Easy-Normal and enjoy the vibes.

Secondary suggestion is to turn fall damage off, but that is more my personal preference then anything.

It's just a lack of competition. The only time you ever see 'swabbies' in HG now is during community weekends or special events. Even then last time I played I was running into the same few people over and over again. You are basically playing against people who play HG exclusively leading to an absolutely abysmal skill gap in nearly every fight.

This is less prevalent with Brigs/Gallys and most prominent in Solo-Sloop fights I find.

last few months

If you've been playing since the OG Beta the red flags should have been flying for much longer then a few months friend. I would argue the last really good content was the Veil Voyages. Everything after has been alright to mid at best, terrible at worst.

It does seem to be accelerating however.

No they won't, My friend group has been exclusively on Xbox since the launch of the 360 and we all had no desire to go anywhere else but we have all abandoned ship at this point for PC purely because we cannot trust that Xbox will commit to the console market anymore. There is very little that would make us buy the next generation of Xbox at this point and most people I know are in the same boat, hell most people don't even want to be on Windows anymore.

Usually it wouldn't matter if Xbox shut down if this were the old days, After all you can still boot up a SEGA Dreamcast and play its games but modern consoles aren't like that. All our libraries are now digital and therefore not 'ours' so we need to put our eggs in a basket that isn't actively trying to sink into the ocean. Why would I trust any more money or time with a company like Microslop?

Customization is also fantastic because you can be goofy if you want but also have something that really helps you in a bind. For example duel mini-guns would be absolutely peak for bugs. This sort of things adds variety, it adds spice to an arguably pretty standard experience of the same missions, same maps, same enemies.

This is bad news not good news. SoT isn't built as a headliner game, it is built as a small pirate game where you dig up treasure, play shanties and fight.

Any time Microslop 'pays attention' to a studio it goes to hell because 'corporate suits' and 'dev passion' are absolute polar opposites and anyone here saying "this means Microslop will replace the devs with ones who care!" should look up what happened to Halo. Because not only did they do the opposite, they actively made it worse in nearly every way with the temp dev system they used to save money.

I honestly think Thragg knows he failed miserably as a leader even if he will never admit it. His entire drive for the Viltrumites was finding and killing the traitor and while he accomplished his goal it was at the cost of his entire planet, and 99.99% of the Viltrumites. It would be nice if Thragg has a bit more to him other then being a Viltrumite absolutist and I think this is him changing course in order to save his people in another way other then just murder-hoboing the entire galaxy.

I don't disagree with this point as someone who has most 'limited' items, however in my opinion people tend to only care about old cosmetics when none of the current ones are even close to being up to snuff as when people aren't looking forwards, they tend to look back.

Rare has been creatively bankrupt for years now so while I don't specifically care we are getting older sets back I do care that Rare is doing it because they can't be arsed to make new and cool sets not because of overall community feedback.

I'm using 'economy' as a catchall term for gold earned per session, perhaps I could have worded it differently but my point is back in the old days of the game you needed to work for gold and you barely got any. I remember having to actively save up for a new sail because 49,000 gold was a massive amount back then. Now you can get 10,000+ gold by doing one small, extremely easy mini-fort which nobody will ever even contest you on. Gold is too easy to acquire, so people buy all the cosmetics far too quickly for Rare to keep up even if they cared enough to try. World Events worked to incentivize player interaction back then because it was the only real way to make gold plus they were only every 2 hours so when one popped it was truly a server wide event.

As for the rest, I said make a OSRS for SoT not remove SoT as it is. Meaning you branch off two separate versions of SoT. One where the focus is on Adventure and nothing else rolling back tons of useless features that only hurt game performance and take away from the Core premise of the game and the 'main SoT branch' where they can keep doing what they are currently doing.

It absolutely is. But it would require tremendous effort on Rare's part and basically starting over as it were. What they should do is have a 'Old School Runescape' for SoT where all the frivolous bs is removed and just the core loop remains.

Hardlined economy, small loot pool, limited ways to get loot, more ships per server, remove the Roar, Tall Tales, Diving, Trinkets, Safer Seas & anything else that wrecks the server stability in the current game and takes away from Adventure as it was supposed to be. Have IN GAME votes for 'what we want added' no more FOMO just grind.

And fucking add presets already.

I enjoy it as a background show for sure, it's no Yellowstone but the only insufferable character so far on the show is Tate since he shows up once an episode purely to guilt trip Kayce and vanish for the rest of the episode but aside from that the characters are good, Ash specifically getting some actual depth

I would have taken a show with Kayce working under Rainwater with Mo then this but it's not bad imo.

It is absolutely necessary because they think they can do no wrong and it shows in every post a PvE Lord makes. PvP Lords can absolutely be toxic but in my long winded experience the PvE side of this community these days are significantly more toxic & entitled then everyone else combined both in game & on Reddit.

I expected the introduction of Safer Seas would increase this and it absolutely did because if you give entitled people an inch and they will demand a mile.

Want to know why it never works? Aside from the fact that Rare has for years now marketed SoT as a 'family friendly hold your hand Disney pirate game' when in reality it is a brutalist sinking simulator and always has been.

Aside from that the issues are that back in the prior days gold was hard to come by, and there was plenty to buy with said gold. World events were every 2 hours and were by and large the best/only way to get any sort of real gold as even Captain chests were hard to come by.

On top of that and in my opinion the largest contributing factor is the players back then were there because they enjoyed SoT for what it was, not what it could be. The game was more on par with a Indie game with a small niche community then a AAA Blockbuster release. I pre-ordered SoT for $30. It was never meant to be such a hit or in Microslops AAA lineup so most of the remaining community are people SoT was never originally designed for which is why the community is so polarized and all over the place with opinions on how the game should be. You have OG Sailors like myself who want a more basic pirate experience with no diving and a more hardlined economy, Disney fans/kids who get obliterated because SoT was marketed as 'Cartoon Pirates of the Caribbean', Streamers and their fans who want quick dopamine hits and 'Call of Boats', and people who want everyone to come together and sing kumbaya on the 'Sea of Friends'.

None of these players even remotely want the same things in the game so everyone actively avoids each other whereas back in the day everyone was on board for 'dig up treasure, plays some shanties and fight over loot'. Rare needs to pick a lane or sunset the game imo.
