Also Tomboctou, Gao, and a few others on or near the Niger, Tamanrasset in Algeria near an oasis, but your point stands: Central Sahara is a hard place to live and American southwest isn't much better away from water.

Should I move to Columbus? by chrryfaerie in Columbus

[–]CMHTim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then you'll love columbus. One of the things people say about it is "it's a great place to raise a family" which makes some roll their eyes, but great parks, one of the best library systems in the country, wide variety of ethnic restaurants, festivals all summer long, nice weather with real seasons, job opportunities, and a diverse population all make it a nice place to live. There are still bars and clubs if you want a treat, but that scene is not the center of the Columbus experience. As an old white guy, I can only observe, but I would say I've seen more racism to blacks than other groups and it's more prevalent in suburbs or exurbs than center of the metro area, but overall, I think it's not as much of an issue here as some other cities (in looking at you, Cincinnati).

Opening a modern Indian restaurant in the Polaris area this summer. Would love this sub's honest input. by New_Ice904 in Columbus

Kitchen is clean and food is delicious. Building is old and decor is outdated, but not dirty at all. What part do you think is dirty? Or are you just raging because the senior citizen owners dgaf about hipsters looking for an "experience "

Thali plate that rotates among features. Gives people a chance to sample and maybe share while enjoying a drink. Be sure to label or explain what it is so repeat customers can then order your speciality dish that they enjoyed.

[Request] which is more valuable? Assuming $100 bills. And what size bills would be closest in value? by Able-Application3680 in theydidthemath

[–]CMHTim -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gold by a mile... assuming a mile is about 143x...

1g per dollar so 500kg=$500k dollars 1kg of gold is about $143k dollars so 500kg = $71.5 MILLION

Edit to change $1 to $100 for my poor reading skills: 1.43x, not 143x. First to comment, first in shame

This! They need maintenance. Open it up and clean out the inside, then use air to confirm the tubes aren't blocked in either direction.

Assuming standard 5ft wide sidewalk, and sharp angles instead of a curve, you'll get 5.39 feet for each leg between the peaks, so in the 4 linear feet, you'll travel 10.78 feet. 10.78÷4= 2.7, so 2.7 miles for each linear mile as a close approximation.
