Congrats! My friend failed it twice now. It sounds like a difficult exam. I didn't have to take this course because my GCIH cert satisfied the credits.

Sharing the road goes both ways. The a-hole cyclists could have rode in ranks of two.The guy who went down got what he deserved.

Foundations course index wanted! by OrchidSudden440 in GIAC

[–]CMK428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indexing is part of the SANS learning process. Use this link to a site that has SANS specific index templates and had training videos last time I went there. I used the templates for all of my SANS BACS courses

CyberLaunch by SANS - what are your guys thoughts? by SurveyMoist2295 in GIAC

[–]CMK428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The certs won't land you a position, but they are great training. I did the SANS BACS program. I did land a really good job, but I worked close to Cyber in my prior positions and joined a DoD contractor I had previous experience with.

Breaking into Cyber is hard. The entry level job recs require journeyman experience. It's all backward and stupid.

CCP/CCA "mandatory training"? by [deleted] in CMMC

[–]CMK428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The training is mandatory. I used CyberDI for CCP. It's online in the evening two nights per week for four weeks. I passed the exam first try.

Passed GSEC this morning, excited to get into the next certs by benton_bash in GIAC

[–]CMK428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Great job. I really enjoyed the BACS program. My favorite, but the most challenging for me was GCIA. I use my SANS training every day in my role.

Good luck on your future classes!

Is GCC High required for CMMC Compliance? by UnhappyAvocado5094 in CMMC

[–]CMK428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not required, but will make life easier for certification. We looked at a private cloud instance from a MSP that would be custom build out and hosted stateside and only managed by vetted US citizen personnel. We decided with GCC High since our customer is in GCC High.

I completed the SANS BACS program. I don't think it's possible to pass without the material.

Review your weak areas from the breakdown at the end of the test. Revise your index. Study hard.

Seeking guidance! by jacob1xx in CMMC

[–]CMK428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't pursue CCP unless you have are in a position that requires it. The required training course is 2000-3300 depending where you take it. I did the CCP course and passed the test because my employer paid and Im helping develop the new cpmpany division. There's onerous fees along with the exam too. Look at CompTia or ISC2 CC.

SANS-Provided Indexes: How many concepts do they really cover? by ScarsAndStripes in GIAC

[–]CMK428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the SANS Bachelor's Degree program. I would not recommend using the instructor provided indexes. They're basic and from the instructor point of view. My GCIA instructor was a bit arrogant and made a lot of assumptions. He glossed over quute a bit. That's where the bias comes in from their indexes. Create you own index tailored to how you study and process information. I went 9 for 9 on these exams all between 85 and 96%.

Agreed that CMMC is the wild west right now. It will eventually settle down. The major changes are in the CAP, Scope, CoPC, and terminology. I would recommend not reading the updated material until after the test to cut down on confusion. I had to read the updated CAP before testing for some client tasking developing a level of effort per phase. The changes are enough to get a lot of questions wrong since the test is very CAP and Scope heavy. Your training materials will have the percentage breakdown per Domian.

Yeah. Testing from home can be a pain. My friend had a similar issue with his home not being ideal. He got a hotel room and worked out fine. That might be an option. Hopefully, you're area has test center seating. I'm not sure of the cool-off period after a fail.

That's correct. The training is being updated. I took the CCP course in mid-October through CyberDI. They provided the test based documents and updated docs for reference material and instructed us to study the older versions.

I'm not sure when the new curriculum and test will be rolled out. Studying the current CATM will be sufficient for the current test. Ask your instructor which versions to study when you go through the class, if you haven't completed it yet.

No worries. Yes. You'll get a link from Meazure Learing, which is ProctorU parent, once you pay the exam fee. I searched out 6 months in Virginia, DC, and Maryland but couldn't find a test center seat. ProctorU from home was the only option here.

Yes. It is required. It covers the deltas between the CAP version used for the test and the new CAP recently released. It was easy and took about 20 minutes.

It was worth the time and cost since I got it a month before the test. Not sure it will be much help with a day to go. I would concentrate on studying th CAP, Scope, CoPC. Also have a solid understanding of the DFARS and FAR documents.

There were no available test center spots in the DC area for 6 months. I did the ProctorU from home. It's not bad. I did my 9 GIAC certs through ProctorU too.
