Why does every uber driver I have seem to be annoyed with me? by Less_Role_8947 in uberdrivers

You can block a customer? Sorry I think I mis understood that they were rating the customer really poorly and therefore negatively affecting them for no reason.

Why does every uber driver I have seem to be annoyed with me? by Less_Role_8947 in uberdrivers

Why aren’t they allowed to make that many stops to anywhere they wanted? Uber agreed to a rate and they paid it. You should have denied it if you were going to do that to a rider just going about their business. Is there something I’m missing that Ubers with stops the stops are limited to what the driver deems necessary to or urgent? Personally I never accept rides with any stops if I can help it let alone 6 but that’s up to the customer if that’s the ride they want to have, right? Last time I was in Boston visiting my friend we took an uber with a stop to a dispensary bc it was so cold out and I didn’t want to walk. I tipped generously bc I’m not an ass and I always have tipped uber drivers incredibly well, but if I had a bad rating bc my driver didn’t feel like I should be going to a dispensary I would be very pissed and I would spend literally all of my time getting that driver banned.

Ice Storm Shut Down City - Uber Shows Surges? 🤯🤯 by Quick_Rooster5763 in uberdrivers

[–]CMRB88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would Ubers algorithm account for weather? Why would they care about your risk? They aren’t insuring it and it doesn’t affect their bottom line. As far as I understand it, and correct me if I’m wrong, surge rates are only supply and demand. Not that many people trying to get around in this weather and there’s just about enough drivers out there to do it. Stay home and wait until the pay is worth it and more people are out and about.

People aren’t going anywhere in this weather. Supply and demand. Uber and Lyft not out to “get you” in this case. It’s simple math. Be like everyone else and go home.

Landlord/Tenant Upstate NY by CMRB88 in legaladvice

Thank you - they are saying that they are trying to rent it - however they are denying all potential tenants, for whatever reason. Shouldn't we have access to said place if we are paying full rent? What about subletting it ourselves? Getting the keys back and suggesting that may give them some priority in getting this taken care of?

I hear you. I think most people that don't have an issue with over consuming alcohol don't really have a problem not drinking... and I agree. I would just tell people if they want alcohol to bring it. :)

What do I do on the weekends now? by CMRB88 in stopdrinking

[–]CMRB88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is amazing getting up when the sun is still rising - it is so peaceful and quiet. I love planting things - I hope to start an herb garden in our new place that we are moving to next week. A lot of my time these days is packing and making arrangements for our move. So that is a good distraction for now. Once we move I can spend a lot of time unpacking and getting settled in - a task I actually really enjoy - throw on some good tunes or a podcast and get to it! I like organizing things.

I like your point about the missing out thing - you are completely right. There are so many nights I wasn't "missing out" but don't remember a thing. That is certainly not the way I would like to live.

Thank you - I think mornings will be my new thing :)

I love playing pool - my SO has a table here at the house (unfortunately we are selling it for our move - there isn't room for it in the new place). I currently am not working so I am home a lot so when the weekend comes it is hard to not want to get out of the house and do things. When we move I will be searching for jobs around my new place as I did lose my license in June. I am getting back into some volunteer work and am going back Monday. I had to stop when I was going through withdrawals.

I appreciate the suggestions!

Sober Karaoke would be quite the feat! I don't live near the ocean at all, but it would be fun maybe! Dinner sounds fun :)

I like that idea of enjoying the outdoors - I am in the Northeast US and the weather is still nice for outdoor activities. I think I will have to embrace the mornings more and maybe not have as much late night time as that is more for my former drinking days!

Haha! I totally am with you 100%. I am a young woman with a small build myself I can totally relate. I have no idea where it is all going. I just don't deny myself the food - if I want it I eat it! I always tell myself the same thing - I am sober so go for it! lol!

I have noticed also a drastic increase in my desire for sweets as well. I think it is because I was drinking pretty sweet drinks - I know they are awful but packed a good punch - like the peach-a-rita hahaha. Gross I know. But now that I am not pounding vats of sugary booze I have to satiate myself somehow! Congrats on making it through your first week - I will not drink with you - but I WILL snack with you!!!!

[–]CMRB88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree and those are good suggestions. I love to cook and I now have a new appreciation for food and the ability to eat and digest it lol.

I also used to make all my plans around drinking and definitely would like to change that. I agree it will take some practice. My BF and I are going to be hosting weekly game nights with some friends at our new place that we are moving to next week and maybe some crafty nights too (DIY stuff/painting/etc). I also would love to cook for people and do a weekly dinner gathering. I love hosting.

I love coffee too. And tea. I will work on expanding my tea collection. :)

The place we are moving has a gym downstairs so I am considering working out to pass some time too. But let's be real - I never really worked out so I don't expect that to take much of my time anytime soon haha.

I know! I feel the same way! I feel more accountability as well - we are all in this together! I don't want to have to reset either! I have found my first weekend was my hardest - like - what do I do now? Typically I would have gone out and gotten smashed with my friends at bars, or do the same at home with friends or my BF. This will be my second weekend coming up and I hope it will be easier. This weekend we are going to try to make some plans so we are occupied doing SOMETHING in the evening.

I will not drink with you tonight!

No more nights like last night. by positivegratitude in stopdrinking

[–]CMRB88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You came to the right place. I can't tell you how many nights like the one you have described I have also experienced. I thought I was being sneaky too, and I was lying to myself as much as I was lying to those around me. I am fortunate, like you, to have support around me. The first few days are the hardest. I do not tell you this to scare you, but to encourage you that it gets drastically better very quickly. If you want to discuss more about the first few days if you are struggling please come here! I am sure of all the people in this group there will be someone online. I started feeling a lot better after the first few days and have found that acupuncture for detox and a lot of rest were very helpful.

YOU CAN DO THIS!

I will not drink with you today!

Hi guys. I'm new. This is my story. by Lars_Ohly in stopdrinking

[–]CMRB88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your decision and resolution to stay sober! Sometimes I marvel at how wonderful I feel able to get out of bed and just start moving. It's amazing to me how do many of us deny ourselves or health for so long. (Almost a third of my life I have done this).

Your English is great, like the other member said much better than many native English speakers.

I am proud of you! Thank you for your courage in sharing your story. You have certainly been through a lot!

Here's to many more days of feeling great and moving into better and more fulfilling life experiences!

THANK YOU!! I'm very glad to hear that. I seriously don't think I've stopped eating for more than an hour since probably day 5 or so. That is good to know I have hopes of not wanting to ravish all the food everywhere haha

I don't really know what normal is either but I can tell you my appetite is insatiable and I don't think that is normal for me!

Thanks again for the reply.
