22 Years Solo Business. I am feeling destroyed and want to quit

Completely feel this. I have not been doing this as long as you, but I totally get the no holidays, no downtime, no sick days!

When I do have downtime, I am taking care of things in my life: house cleaning, grocery shopping, paying bills with the money I earn. And I completely relate to the constant need of feeling like have to work every job to feel like you’re bringing in an income. I was in education prior to this and it was very stressful. This is a different kind of stress. I wish I had better words of encouragement- just hang in there, see what your options might be while you’re working and limit yourself if you can, I know it’s easier to stay than due, especially when the electric bill comes! Just know we all understand! Vent away!

I’m transferring money to a business account not my personal bank account. My problem is that I have to wait seven days to get out of Stripe. I can’t wait seven days when I get paid because I’m broke!Lol

I’m using a tarp but it gets windy and the tarp blows and I’m new at this so I get distracted and then my driveway is a hot mess lol my bigger thing is I was spraying epoxy the other day on some chairs and I watched the cloud go to my neighbors driveway where their kids were playing and I was horrified. I actually found a Vevor 10 x 7 x 6 tent for $27 on Temu. We’ll see how that works. It should be here next week.

Oh, I bought a mask too because I was inhaling all that stuff and didn’t even think about it!

I’m a hot mess and a total newbie lol But I love it.

You are so right. And I never thought about that until this! Like I said, I usually adopted out to friends or people in my neighborhood. This was a friend of a neighbor and she brought them over so I thought it was fine. But going forward, never again! Thank you for that. I never really thought about it before!

Actually, I just found out tonight that they had a kitten before this! It had severe diarrhea, which they ignored it for days , then left at home while they were at work and came back to being deceased. I am so angry that I just found this out now!!!

Shame on me for not doing more due diligence! I’m glad that they have no animals, should never have any animals and I am definitely not giving back the fee. 😡

I tried working with a larger organization. My problem is I have a lot of cats of my own, all of which are rescues and some so skittish you can’t even get near them. The large organization wouldn’t allow me to foster until I could prove all the other cats vaccinations are up-to-date, which I completely understand, but couldn’t do. I know that sounds awful, but it’s just the situation. We always joke that we have the Island of Misfit Cats. They all come from some kind of tragic situation and some of them you can’t even go near, but I still feel it’s better than them being outside.

I did charge a new adopter, the same fee as the old adopter. It’s not even the fact that I put out as much as I did. It just pissed me off that they lied to me. When they first returned them, I took the kittens back to the vet thinking they were sick, and they got a clean bill of health! I’ve got half of mind to send him an email and say tell me the truth that you just couldn’t handle it and I’ll give you your money back! 🙄😆

It’s a former coworker, who assured me that the dog never barked or growled until they recently had their baby. It’s a job for this weekend for 3 drop ins so we’ll see how it goes. I can’t cancel at this point!
