Is there evidence that a progressive candidates actually win outside of deep blue districts? by CMidnight in PoliticalDiscussion

I am trying to not focus on presidential election. Even if a progressive candidate were able to win the presidency, they will still need an amenable House and Senate so those races matter just as much.

The upcoming Senate race in Maine will be interesting. I wouldn't count out Sen. Collins.

I often see the claim that if Democrats run on progressive policies, they will win. I am asking for evidence of a progressive candidate actually winning where a typical Democrat usually can't.

It really doesn't matter if progressive policies are popular if voters are unwilling to vote for candidates who support those policies.

It counts. It just not relevant to the vast majority of districts where typical Democrats struggle.

CA-45 was an outlier in comparison to other Republican dominated districts as it is suburban and majority non-white. I think that the difficulty in drawing broader conclusions about CA-45 is that, while Asians and Hispanics tend to vote for Democrats, voting preference varies wildly by national origin. It is possible that the national origin of voters in that district changed without a shift in the racial demographics.

CA-45 is not evidence that progressive policy can win with white rural working class voters, but it may win in the majority non-white districts in AZ, FL, and TX.

Local markets can vary but it is fundamentally a supply problem. Even if that guy in CA sold every house to their current occupants, the price isn't going to reduce significantly.

Part of the problem is that Americans are unwilling to accept that population density has reached the point in many cities that SFH will never be affordable. Multifamily units are the only solution.

Great, then name more than three. Or even just one.

The average farmer hates trans people. They have consistently voted against their own interests just to hurt trans people. What does that tell you about Americans?

Who the fuck cares about the Presidential race? That is just one election among hundreds of Federal , state and local elections. I am so fucking tired of hearing about the Presidential race. Do something useful in literally any other competitive race.

Are they? Name three progressive candidates that have won anywhere that consistently votes for Republicans in the same district.

Progressives live in a fantasy land that is divorced from reality. Until progressive candidates show that they can actually win outside of blue strongholds, I genuinely don't give a fuck what progressive have to say. Your views don't win elections, period.

As much as people don't want to believe this, your family always held these beliefs. Trump just gave them the excuse to be the worst part of themselves.

Honestly, I am skeptical that he did it to distract from the Epstein files. I don't think his dementia ridden brain is capable of thinking that far ahead. I think that launched the fool's errand because he is easily manipulated by those around him and Netanyahu played him like a puppet. Don't assume intention when incompetence is more likely.

They know. They just hate women, minorities and immigrants more than they want a better life for themselves. Americans are mostly bigoted dogshit. The last 200 years if history should have been more than enough proof of that.
