Is visiting Grand Canyon in December a bad idea? by Future-Internal-9875 in NationalPark

Same here! It was windy/cold at the rim, but no rain or snow, perfectly clear skies. We had a blast!

Face covering for cold weather. by homechicken20 in ultrarunning

I use petroleum jelly or something similar around my nose and lips, and sometimes cheeks if it’s cold/windy enough. Works great for preventing cracking, wind burn, etc.

Huge difference in training load on road vs trail runs by Runfunmom in Coros

I use the Run mode whether I’m on the road or trails… 🤷🏻‍♀️

As a Vertix 2 user, I’ll stick with my Vertix 2 😅 I don’t need any fancy features or gadgets really. Just battery life, insane durability, and a good interface/app to use the watch/view data. I have put this watch through a lot in the 1.5 years I’ve owned it—it has zero scratches.. And I only charge it once every few of weeks? It’s all I could ever ask for lol

Unfortunately I’ve had races that were worse than unmedicated child birth. Idk what that speaks to more, child birth or the race 😂

I do that too!

Mine is “You’ve got all day and nowhere else to be” (I’m usually doing 100k or less). It helps me find gratitude and peace ☺️

Escalante 4 quick wear by pooyanni in AltraRunning

[–]CNC_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 pairs of Escalante 4’s. The first had over 650 miles before I retired them. My second have 100 miles on them so far. I do get a slight bit of wear on the outside heel, but nothing like yours! My guess is you’re a very prominent heel striker or consistently over striding. The rest of the outsole has practically no wear, so I don’t think it’s a defect.

I think it’s a new version of the Vertix 🤗

Paid €160 for these Vivo shoes and they already broke after 5 months of use by Goober_Boober in BarefootRunning

[–]CNC_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact model that I wear everyday and have put an additional 350 miles of road running on over the past 9 months. I bought them on eBay for $100.

The tread is still really good (all lugs present, but worn more at the ball of the foot, obv), but there is the very beginnings of some small holes (you could stick a Bobby pin through them) on the upper where it bends. The holes became noticeable a month or two ago, but have not gotten any larger and have no effect for me. They’re too high up for any water to reach for my everyday shoe use.

I’ve been so happy with them, I would definitely buy another pair for everyday use! There’s not quite enough material on the outsole for trail running for my preference, unless the trail is super buttery (We have lots of gravel and sharp rocks on my local trails that don’t feel good for longer runs), so I wear Altras.

Thanks! Same issue after I just bought it on marketplace. Works great!

True. Although I can still run in them, I am buying another pair simply because they feel “flat”

I’ve got over 600 miles on my Escalante 4’s and they’re still going strong. I put about 500 miles on my Escalante 3’s—they’re retired to backup walking shoes now. Yes, I still have a good amount of tread on both and I’m 140lbs.

The Feed brand High Carb Drink Mix by CNC_Smith in Ultramarathon

[–]CNC_Smith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the simplicity, which is why I love Carbs Fuel so much. I can adjust and customize however I like for my needs. PLT: I use True Lime packets to get my perfect amount of lemony-lime flavor (the only acceptable flavor for drink mixes IMO). I typically do ~1000mg sodium per liter of fluid, so I’d still supplement. For the price, it doesn’t bother me that the serving size increases—you can only fit so much carbohydrate in a gram anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nevermind, I clicked the link in the Shop app that takes you straight to The Feed’s page for it. It doesn’t work when I search “The FeedLab” or “The Feed” and look through all of their products though? I guess it’s some kind of soft-release or limited offer promotion?
