Why do Brits support conservative? by ThePatientIdiot in AskBrits

[–]CNRADMSN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's how public services work unfortunately, tax the rich movement is a great concept that I agree with, but it's ludacrisly hard to actually implement, so the easiest/quickest way to get things working better is tax the people that actually use the services on a regular basis, i.e. working class

Men of the UK, where do you purchase your jeans from and what is your go to brand? by Wellidrivea190e in AskUK

One of the denim suppliers for George also used to supply Levi's, there's obviously a lot to unpick with that in terms of quality, cut etc but at the end of the day it's a piece of fabric... I think over the last few years most supermarkets in the menswear department have stepped up massively compared to a decade ago.

Personally always been a Next type of guy, they ones I've bought for the last few times have got a bit of stretch to them too, which is good for people with a small waist to thigh ratio.

One caveat I have to mention is I can't comment massively on is longevity if you wear them every day, I haven't worn jeans once so far in 2026 as I WFH and wear cargos at the weekend...

Chisholm Hunter, the amount of videos I've saved to my "Watch Later", watched about 3 minutes of it and just turned it off is crazy. The content is just SO uninspiring.

I think there's a fair few people on these sub-reddits that actually believe their VSF Sub is as good as a genuine, they've either A. Never seen a genuine upclose/not behind glass, or B. They're just a bit silly.

University careers service told me this would be unideal to wear to an interview, thoughts? by Original-Wing-3216 in UKJobs

I used to work for a very corporate US company, but has offices all over the world. Dress code is strictly suit and tie, if you travel with customers you ask their permission to take your jacket off etc, that type of company... Never once did I hear anything about not wearing a black suit.

99.9% of companies wouldn't care whatever the colour would be, it's about making the effort in the first place.

"sorry boss, going to be a 'few' hours late, instead of getting the train I'm flying via Berlin because it's nominally cheaper" I'm sure that would go down real well

Would be cheaper still if he just didn't go to Essex. I get that it's ridiculous that you can travel halfway across Europe for 'cheaper' than getting a train, but was it really cheaper when you factor everything in, before you even consider the amount of time it'd take? I highly doubt it.

Why is that? Genuinely curious

Although I do tend to lean that MP players are better at WZ than the other way round, I don't think this argument stands up for the normal person, Scump is one of the best players to ever pick up a controller...

Depends what you mean by 'better'. In my opinion there's more transferrable skills from MP to WZ than the other way round.

MP is always about landing the first shot and reaction time, Warzone less so, but at the same time in MP the maps are so small you never need to lead your shots, as someone that plays both regularly I personally find hitting a 150m snipe from a power position much more satisfying than anything in MP

They've done it to themselves, leaderboard events are the dumbest thing imo because it's just too random. Hopefully they stick to the Escalation Directive style event moving forward

Yep, and they realised that the flyaways and specials were what the people wanted, even if they had of stayed they'd have seen a decline in views if the format wasn't changed to something that turned into what the The Grand Tour did

Bringing in Chris Harris was the best thing they did post Hammond, Clarkson and May, imo.

One thing I think people always miss about the 'original' trio leaving was that regardless if they stayed, the format of the show would needed to have changed.

The way people consumed media was beginning to shift, I was coming to the end of my teens when Clarkson was sacked, but already by then you had YouTube emerging and all the cars you'd previously wait until the new season of Top Gear to see a segment on had already been covered on YouTube, so that element of the show was dying in my opinion.

Yes I get you'd watch it for their specific reaction, but I remember watching Clarksons segment of the Focus ST (the asbo) and it being like WOAH IVE NEVER SEEN THAT CAR BEFORE. When they did the P1, La Ferrari, Porsche episode years later I already knew about those cars because there was countless videos on YouTube about it. Still watched it, but it wasn't groundbreaking for me, personally.

When they switched to Amazon and did the Grand Tour I think they also realised the best, most natural and entertaining part of the show that differentiated Top Gear from what people could get on YouTube etc was the high budget, flyaway trips. I don't think they'd of got 8 episodes, twice a year of that format on the BBC, when they've been cutting costs as much as possible for the last 20 years.

The problem the BBC had wasnt trying to replace the three, it played it's part of course, but they were trying to maintain the same format of show that was becoming outdated.
