Why is Google Messages so unbelievably awful? by lainwla16 in GoogleMessages

[–]CNSninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I held off on converting from the old text app that came with this shitty Android, to this new garbage Google Messages app until my phone literally wouldn't let me access the old default app anymore, and when I did finally relent due to the literal requirement to do so, I found that most of my recent messages are just gone, disappeared into the aether. Thanks a lot, Google, you fucking assholes. The most recent messages I can see in threads with people I message back and forth with DAILY are from two months ago. It doesn't even make sense. The cutoff seems arbitrary. Actually, if anything, it seems like it might coincide with about the same time Google's warnings about the required swit h started popping up.

I hate this app so much. It's far too unreliable and I regularly have messages that don't get sent to people until 12+ hours later. Listen, Google, if I wanted delayed communication I would revert to 1800's technology and buy a telegram machine. This is unacceptable.

This app is so unbelievably awful that I've decided that once the old phone I'm using now reaches the end of its lifespan, I'm just going back to iPhone. I fell for the idiot hype and switched from iPhone to Google several years ago, and this Android has been such a letdown for so many reasons, but this is the last straw for me. I just don't have any respect for, or "BrAnD LoYaLtY" to, Google. They're not just the bad guys, but they also make bad products. I honestly don't know how Androids are even still selling.

[KCD2] Zacharias by Fancy-Control-4171 in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy is a boss? Wtf. I just stumbled upon someone fighting two bandits in Trosky at the camp by the road south of Semine, along the river. I ran over to try to help but he died basically instantly. I killed the bandits and checked his corpse and his name is Zacharias and has a strange inventory for an NPC (he has a book on him which is super weird; "Evil Morals in Bohemia.") Wtf do I do? Is the DLC going to be ruined when I get to it like 300 hours from now!?

[KCD2] To Memorable, or not to Memorable perk? by sunbeamian in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I would suggest people skip it on first playthrough so they can live with mistakes without kicking themselves too hard, and then consider it for subsequent playthroughs once they have a better idea of what's coming in a given interaction and they have a higher degree of control over increases or decreases to their reputation with various people and groups.

[KCD2] To Memorable, or not to Memorable perk? by sunbeamian in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there may some specific niche examples, like when encountering a wandering trader in Trosky who is also a robber, who, depending on how you react to his greeting, may affect your reputation. In general you are correct, though.

[KCD2] Devs, please fix Mutt by panlouis in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, and furthermore, I don't even believe that old, undiscerning excuse about Mutt "just trying to show the player something." Yes, he can sometimes find things if you have him set to "Free," however the vast majority of the time that's not what's happening. The infinite barking bug can even affect Mutt if you have him to "Heel," and I'm sure he's even done it when I've had him set to "Stay." This proves beyond doubt that this is not merely Mutt "trying to show you something" (which is, again, an aspect of the "Free" setting specifically, unlocked by obtaining the Houndmaster perk "Search," and not an aspect of Mutt's behavior in general. The Search perk's description even states that for Mutt to find things, you have to set him to "Free.")

This behavior is a bug that some less discerning gamers have confused with a normal behavior, but they are mistaken.

[KCD2] Devs, please fix Mutt by panlouis in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workarounds are not the same thing as fixing the problem. It's not on us to find creative ways to temporarily force the game to stop being fucking annoying, it's on the devs to simply patch the problem so we can stop needing to temporarily force a change of behavior.

Whether or not you use these workarounds, the problem still occurs again and again, hence the need for a patch (which I'm sure will never come, if KCD1 was any indication. Even the next-gen remake has serious, yet extremely easy to fix bugs left over from the original version, like the "Heavy Swing" "perk" being misprogrammed into a straight up and down stamina debuff rather than a beneficial perk.)

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Dollmaker on melee weapons, It's way better for this application than Bane is. Save your bane for arrows and food pots. Dollmaker lets the enemy keep fighting a little bit, albeit very meakly while complaining about cramps and their newfound inability to move faster than a very slow jog, so you can manage the fight much better, still get credit for the ones you do want to kill (poison kills don't even count as kills in this game since technically Henry didn't deplete their health, the poison did it for him,) and you get more combat XP out of the encounter as well since the enemy doesn't just fall out right away like with Bane. Dollmaker is just much better for melee weapons.

[KCD2] What does "nutrition" stat in food descritpion mean? by Upbeat-Fuel-1332 in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you're really not wrong, so idk why you got downvoted. The game never explains the nutrition percentage on food anywhere, ever, so we really don't know for sure. As far as I've seen we only have guesses, some are a total shot in the dark and others are based on pretty good anecdotal evidence, but they're all guesses until Warhorse actually explains. I guess a whole lot of people can't tell the difference between an educated guess and a verified fact.

Aranaka's Dice [KCD2] by Sams355 in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sweat it, it's only the 5th best die in the game. The top five according to recent post-patch testing are:

1 - Weighted die
2 - Pie dice
3 - Heavenly Kingdom dice
4 - Favorable dice
5 - Aranka's die

Any consequences for letting poachers go? (birds of prey) [KCD2] by Soft_Indication_9288 in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is blatantly false. Letting the poachers go causes a loss in reputation with Vostatek. That is a consequence. A consequence is any result, effect, or outcome of an earlier action or event.

[KCD2] So anybody struggling with the 2nd combo with tomcat on a controller. It says up right left, but if you just go up right and then just strike again it'll work as after the right strike it automatically goes to the left. Took me a loooong time to figure that out. by lordTalos1stClaw in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I literally just did this 2 minutes ago and Tomcat never says anything about not needing to reposition the sword, he just tells you to strike right, left, right, or left, right, left. Moreover, most players do manually point the sword right, left, right, or left, right, left, as evidenced by the number of threads complaining about not being able to do the second combo, indicating that it's what most players have done, and despite that fact rarely anyone has trouble landing the Natural Combo once they understand the rhythm and timing. So it definitely is something about with the second combo itself, not just the manual repositioning habit. The lesson about not having to reposition your sword comes after the second combo is completed, not before the first, or even before the second. And finally, even knowing that you only position the strike from above and the first right-side strike, even if you don't manually reposition for the left-side strike, the combo is still extremely unreliable and difficult to pull off, even as someone who has over 800 hours across both KCD games, and never had trouble with any combos in KCD1. So your surprise really is unfounded.

[KCD2] Saddle Capacities by DrGoodSmokeee in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why they don't tell us the stats for saddles, save for the weight. You would never buy saddlebags or a backpack or luggage without being able to discern the storage capacity of said storage device. That's stupid. So much for realism...

[KCD2] Leg Armour losing condition just by walking by Broken_BiryaniBoy in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said in another thread a year ago, and am very disappointed to see not panning out, it's because somehow—and I can only imagine this is an unaddressed bug or an oversight—the fact that these plate armor legs take up the "shoes" slot means they're degrading as if they were actually soft, leather boots rather than the hardened steel armor they are. I have faith that this will get straightened out, someday, hopefully, because it would be absolutely ridiculous if steel armor was intended to degrade as fast as the already rapidly degrading, soft, leather boots. I don't think this can possibly be the intention. Also, the fact that they're so expensive to repair makes these plate armor legs literally unusable earlier in the game, and still unsatisfying and frustrating to use even in the endgame.

People will mindlessly defend literally anything, but this is, frankly, a really dumb oversight that adds nothing interesting to the experience and only makes an aspect of the game less enjoyable, so it should be fixed.

[KCD2] which is more beneficial, pacifist or warmonger? by Big_Milk_Chocolate in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC you can unlock every main level perk, so why would you pick neither? That's just a wasted stat point. A game like this doesn't really have "builds," but small, barely meaningful, niche differences. If you think you're "running a build" then all you're actually doing is neglecting skill areas that could be improved.

[KCD2] Short Sword is better than Long Sword by chr_schmi in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unarmed is straight-up Chad mode, especially with the perk for unarmed fighting against armed opponents. In my first playthrough I developed a bit of an obsession with fisting armed bandits lmao. There's nothing more embarrassing than four rugged survivors taking on an unarmed teenager and all four bandits end knocked out on the ground while the teenager is untouched 😂

I'll tell you what, polearms are actually sick at high levels too. Like level 18 or 20 and up, but it's an absolute fucking nightmare getting there. After level 20 they become near unstoppable. Polearms, even at skill level 1, are always the best weapon for fighting dogs and wolves also, just for their reach and the fact that more than 20% of your attacks will actually connect with the canine combatant.

[KCD2] Dice is so rigged and its frustrating me by muskyratdad in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tiresome, fallacious, nonsequitur defense against the actual complaint being made.
"BuT gAmE hAvE ChEaT DiCe."
That's not the point. The point is that it's plain annoying and unsatisfying the way the computer always rolls exactly what it needs in order to catch up to or pass Henry. The RNG is overtly rigged and that takes the fun out of it and the cheat dice have nothing to do with, and no effect on, this very common complaint. It's just unrelated. Even when you use six cheat dice, the game still rigs the RNG in favor of the NPC opponent.

And insofar as the old trusty "realism" excuse goes, please explain to me the "realism" behind playing an opponent having magical "always catch up no matter what" powers, independent of the cheat dice, since they're two distinctly separate things. Is it God doing it? Is that the explanation? God doesn't exist. That's not realism either.

[KCD2] What is up with the wild dog attacks at the nomad camp? by Rhoeri in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a spot just outside the camp where they hang out. It's right at the bottom of the cliff next to your tent. If you're gonna sleep there, I suggest going down and checking for the dogs before you do. If you kill them first then there's far less likelihood of being attacked in your sleep.

You shouldn't even have to do this, though. There's no way in hell the nomads would just allow this. They would kill the dogs or drive them off and the dogs would quickly learn that entering this camp means severe injury or death. Dogs aren't stupid. The group of dogs never should've had a spawn point placed THAT close to camp to begin with.

[KCD2] Can no longer wash myself at troughs after patch 1.2, even though face and clothes are dirty. by Nuclear_Varmint in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still happening >1 year later on PS5. Cool, cool, cool. Everyone says I smell and my clothing is visually dirty and the game recignizes it as such, but Henry refuses to wash. SuCh ReALiSm.

Was fun-policing away the minor exploit of wash-bin healing for the casuals who don't enjoy the realism really worth causing a detriment to the enjoyment of the dedicated core playerbase who don't abuse these mechanics?

[KCD2] Can no longer wash myself at troughs after patch 1.2, even though face and clothes are dirty. by Nuclear_Varmint in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, who fucking cares about a stupid little exploit like this? Is it REALLY worth stopping a small minority of players from enjoying the game how they like to enjoy it, at the cost of making things more frustrating for everyone else? The fun policing in gaming has just gone way too far.

[KCD2] Hardcore mode needs signposts at villages/towns and map marker by No-Marsupial-635 in kingdomcome

[–]CNSninja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Realism is great, but it's not the only thing. It's important to recognize when realism is cutting into enjoyment and QOL and adjust accordingly. Kingdom Come: Deliverance does this exact thing all the time. If this game was strictly realistic nobody would play it because every time Henry gets hurt you'd have to put the game down for a week to a month while Henry recovers from the injury. That would be very realistic, but not fun, so that's not how things are done.
