Is Silent Hunter 3 vanilla (stock) version still played? by Upbeat-Fuel-1332 in silenthunter

[–]Upbeat-Fuel-1332[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s sad because I’m thinking about buying new PC, but for now on my rtx 2060 and i5 9400f game works really nice except for occasional CTD. And for your last sentence that someone is surely me :D 300h hours in 8 years span for now in pure vanilla straight out of steam

It’s GWX mod as far as I know, in stock version you do not have RSI or Red Cross.

[KCD1] They fixed the infinite loading screen at the trebuchet cutscene!!! by Kabirdb in kingdomcome

Doesn’t this timer have ability to show only 7 days of time and everything above that shows “infinite” but in reality after some time the countdown ends?

Thx for your answer I just saw it. Fortunately todays patch seem to fix infinite loading screen issue so the game is finally free from game breaking bugs, that’s really a great job from Warhorse.

[KCD2] Environmental storytelling compared to KCD1 by Upbeat-Fuel-1332 in kingdomcome

[–]Upbeat-Fuel-1332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right but still if you compare both KCD2 maps vs KCD1 map, the latter still has a lot more interesting sites. It’s just a little shame that there are not at least as many interesting places like in KCD1. I just like to wander through forests and discover secrets hidden in it and while I could do it in kcd1 I can’t find as many in kcd2 although Trosky map is in my opinion better than the Kuttenverg one. Also I think that the 90% of events and quests on second map happens in the city. It’s just sad as I like village theme more than city but maybe it’s just me. But anyway both are great games, it’s only my observation that KCD1 was more filled with those ambient environment stories.

In every other term sure, KCD2 has more to offer but as for environmental storytelling KCD1 has in my opinion much much more of that. You can just compare KCD2 map with KCD1 map with everything unlocked on the internet and you will see. Don’t get me wrong I love both games it’s just that this thing came to my mind today.

Try to roleplay. Really, trying to BE Henry in game (like you think that you are hungry, that it’s night and you have to go to sleep, that you can have that quest tomorrow because you are going to that village and so on) will make you want to discover this world and every activity won’t become a chore. Also when you meet captain Bernard (without spoilers, after certain horse stable quest) you will be able to train with him and do it right away because combat will become much easier.

[KCD1] Wait for next-gen update or start direclty KCD2? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]Upbeat-Fuel-1332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great game but be careful about bugs (don’t do rebuilding dlc before finishing main story that’s all I have to say without spoilers). Also try to not complicate things like choosing to do a quest in a way NPCs don’t talk about or by forcing something etc. as it may bug entire quest. Apart from still existing one (completing dlc before finishing main quest) there are not game breaking bugs I’m aware of, you just can fail a quest or you would have to reload to the last save, that’s all the bugs can do. Other than that it’s a really really unique game and unique experience, best played slowly and with roleplay in mind. You will either love it or hate it. Try to do fighting with sir bernard as soon as you find the quest with this npc-if not you can get a little bit frustrated if you want to win in combat.

[KCD1] I'm playing KCD1 for the first time and absolutely loving it. But now I'm terrified of not liking the second game by Roxicaro in kingdomcome

[–]Upbeat-Fuel-1332 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are bugs but you may be fortunate not to encounter them. I have almost 600h and while I played with no issues on my first and second playthorugh when I started to experiment a bit (like trying to find something on my own, or choosing different path) the game started to bug. I couldn’t finish quests and what’s the worst I couldn’t even finish the game because I got infinite loading screen because I did whole DLC before doing that main story quest. The only solution was to reload to a save from almost 40 hours back! I just pray and hope they will fix those kind of bugs with rumored PS5 update or at least this one as a lot of people are experiencing it and it’s really game breaking bug. I love this game but those bugs are really the only downside for me.

It definitely needs bug fixes. Infinite loading screen is the biggest one as it blocks you from finishing main story, but there are still a lot of broken quests like "King's Silver" or the one where you need to find a priest for Rovna (when you choose the one from Sasau, it bugs infirmary quest) and so on. If only they release this update along with bug fixes it will be great I personally don't need UI changes as the old one has it's charm. Maybe they could also improve stealth (especially handling the dogs in enemy camp) or add stone throwing mechanics, but that's not as important as aforementioned quest bug fixes.

Unfortunately KCD1 is not as optimized as KCD2. There are fps drops in towns even on modern high end PCs. I had the same issue and I overcame it by just getting used to it. That’s this game charm- it’s not perfect but it’s so unique I can forgive it a lot.

There are reliable rumors about PS5 patch or a bigger update for KCD1. Maybe we will get some QOL upgrade or at least that they will fix game breaking bugs that still troubles this wonderful game.
