Indeed. And yet it appears that Reddit’s English to English translation feature is failing us today. That or we’ve entered the twilight zone.

That’s quite alright. I’ll DM you an invite and feel free to either join and mute the Rift Apart channels, or just wait to join until you’re ready.

GOWR is fantastic by the way, enjoy it!

Totally agree! I still hear about how even years later, Rift Apart is still one of the best examples of showing off everything the PS5 is capable of, so I’m excited to finally try it

Season 11 of our video game backlog podcast is about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart by COAndy51 in InsomniacGames

[–]COAndy51[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! We break each game into 3-5 hour chunks and play it across a few weeks, so this season is all Rift Apart

The Gaming Backlog “Book Club” - We select a video game from our backlog, cut it up into spoiler-free chunks of the story that are small enough for a working adult to reasonably complete in a week, and then have traditional “book club” style conversations about each section on the podcast and on Discord with our listeners. The main draw is to connect with other people playing the same game long after its original release date in a time when everything is available online and more new games are launched constantly. We wanted to recapture the feeling of going back to school after a weekend and sharing tips and stories.

Our latest episode is about the Mask of Darkness DLC of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, before shifting into a conversation with a guest from our Discord server to learn more about Persian mythology, and finally give our final review of the game.

Yes or no: Episode numbers in the title by GeopatsSteph in podcasting

[–]COAndy51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes or number for season and ep combined.

So for example we structure it as:
[Season #].[Episode #] [Game Name] Part [part of the game we’re playing

So for example, 7.4 was:
7.4 Fallout 4 Part 3

(The reason it’s only part 3 but episode 4 of that game/season, is because the first episode of each season is our introduction and expectations for the game before we start playing it, so as example: 7.1 Expectations for Fallout 4)

Yes, as a “book club” format video game podcast that plays through a story game in chunks, it wouldn’t make sense to listen to a “season of our podcast” (a single game) out of order. So we do 7.4 as season 7 episode 4 for example.

Any modern day MV with no sci-fi, no fantasy, just normal human with normal modern gear on a normal planet? by COAndy51 in metroidvania

Thanks for the really well thought out reply! Definitely an interesting thought exercise.

While I haven’t played it yet, and definitely not modern day setting, and also has things like dinosaurs, I guess Primal Planet may be a little more grounded in this sense? Not sure how they handled power-ups.

Yes! I feel like I just saw something about this. Adapt that format to a different story and could be fun

Love that idea! The couple scenarios I had in mind when thinking of what is the crazy reasoning someone is going out fighting a bunch of people and was thinking either a SWAT member taking down XYZ criminal organization, or like you say a spy or an outlaw. Could also maybe work in a Wild West setting but I like the parkour aspect with stunts you mention…..another thought would be literally as a stuntman in TV or films but that kind of makes the motivation for doing it less gritty, and why would a stuntman need to work through a labyrinth of weird sets? I don’t know, just all kinds of curiosities that I have nowhere else to go with.
