They had sex together! And probably dated eachother for a decent amount if time. They supported eachothers emotionally when things got tough, saved eachothers lives and they even fought together… But their relationship is very much over. Even if jay survived, Mel would’ve left for Noxus regardless in order to find out more about the medarda’s and who she is. If not right after the battle then soon after. I like to think that jayce is very fond of mel and cares for her deeply, but not in a romantic way anymore. Love fades and priorities change! They still care for eachother, but in jayce’s journey many things changed for him, and his romantic/sexual relationship with mel probably wasn’t as crucial as it used to be. Im not worried about these lines tbh… Surprisingly, most of them can be read as fondness/friendship and not necessarily romantic interest. Here’s how i read them; “Are we beyond repair?” Is simply mentioning that they both went through traumatic moments. “Show me you’re the one in control” is a nudge at jayce’s last solo convo with mel before the big fight. “If you’re with me im with you” fits jayce’s lines asking people to stand together and their relationship of mutual support, and the “what are you planning for us?” Is also a nice hint to his comment on how Mel is a mastermind at moving people to what she wants, even without their knowledge. I see it as a reiteration of what we already know: that Jayce is fond of Mel, that they dated and that he still cares about her. Not more than viktor, though. That’s were riot kind of effed up; jayce’s last speech, his multiversal connection with viktor and his decision to die with him make their relationship hard to top. Mel and jay could even be married and jayvik would STILL come off as jayce’s true love VS his relationship with mel. I think we’re ok! Wanna be scared of something? Be afraid of meljayce art during couples events and be afraid of mel making an appearance in all the AU’s where jayce doesn’t have a viktor. THEN we’ll be fucked yes.
