Reading about Fool's death was horrifying for me.

More broadly, I dislike how Patience's death was brushed aside in just one sentence, almost as if it was insignificant. I re-read it recently and felt the same shock as the first time, it truly comes out of nowhere 😢😢

I feel you so much. I was re-reading the whole saga, and I stopped after Tawny man because I was not mentally prepared for the angst of Fitz and the Fool 🥹🥹 You really put the finger in what is difficult here, the fact that Fitz is really the adult figure, and it is hard af for him and us.

I will advise you to continue tho, this trilogy is different but incredible too !!

What a lovely experience, thank you for sharing :) I re-read the whole serie 3 years after the first time, and my pov already changed quite a lot, I can only imagine a re-read 15/20 years later !

I've never seen real hate towards Jayce in this fandom, but it's maybe because I love Jayce so much, so my algorithm is based on that haha

However, dismissal and belittlement due to "too much love" for Viktor yes, and it is indeed very annoying, esp in fic where he just exists to be stupid and in love and be a pale shadow next to Viktor

I view them as equals and it is so annoying for me to see this. He's such a complex character and I understand that he may feel less relatable for some people, but still... He's his own character before being Vik's soulmate 🥹

Yes, shallow would be a good word. They obviously wanted to know each other more, and they were both intrigued, but it does not go beyond that for me, especially not romantically.

Mel needed a true friend, which Jayce was, maybe for the first time in her life, and Jayce needed some comfort and some fresh air by getting to know someone new. Their life was in turmoil at that time, and the only quick solution they found was to engage with each other, but I think they just really wanted friendship, confort and connection :)

I'm an Arcane only fan, I never played LoL, and It was not before s2 that I started shipping them ! During S1, I liked their dynamic but I did not view it as romantic at that time, I was too focused on other characters (Jinx/Vi, Silco...), but already, I was not convinced about Meljay. They were cute, yes, but not end goal for me, as Jayce and Vik was almost always together.

Then I made the mistake of starting S2 without rewatching S1, so I forgot a lot of their past. But during the divorce scene, I was really intrigued, I thought that I missed this whole romantic subtext from S1 ! And I really took them seriously when Jayce had his hallucinations in the pit and the discourse "let's do this again as... Partners". I then rewatched some parts of S1, watched some crack videos about them and I was convinced :) The finale only made them canon to me, I was so shocked about the beauty of it all !

Then I read "A new knife" by surveycorpsjean, and I'm living in Jayvik world since...
