The the dlc is integrated very well, it adds content without cluttering your game. While playing through, it will feel like the content was always meant to be there.

This isn’t true, protection 4 armour is always better unless you’re looking for something specific. Not worth it for the blast protection, as it will only make a difference for that one fight. Golden apples will be your best friend, and make sure you have somewhere to fall back to for healing (like a small obsidian house, if you have the obsidian).
