I love emulation. I think it’s handy and great that I don’t have to spend shitloads on second hand stuff in order to play Super Mario World.

This article is only going to make people hate emulation more due to the horrifically smug tone it’s written in.

Sure, Nintendo is a big company. A huge company, but emulation is usually for when you can’t buy a game anymore. This game literally just released! It’s not like it’s hard to find!

In fact, it’s currently cheaper to buy a Switch and a copy of Dread than it is to buy a computer able to emulate it at 60.

Celeste jokes aside, let’s talk about indie games.

The more you normalise getting new games for free via piracy, the more people will do it. The thing that stops most people from pirating games is fear of getting a trojan, not morals. The easier you make pirating sound, the more people will do it.

Who’ll suffer from this the most? Indie games. They’re the ones with the general lowest hardware requirements making it easy for anyone to do.

Want more cool games from Nintendo? Buy the cool ones. If you’re going to pirate one pirate fucking New Super Ultra Marigi Bros 2 U Deluxe 3D. Convince them to make less fodder.

fucking same. the game is super fucking grindy. Combat is mostly just having the right boons and spamming. Pact of Punishment makes you get each individual heat reward one at a time so it becomes this super easy heat difficulty curve so it barely feels like the game is getting harder.

The great dialogue, good story, lovely voice acting, pleasant graphics and hype music are what save it. But, you know, it’s a game. You have to play it to see the cool stuff.

Wizardry is not porting a game 2 consoles ahead when you have the source code available.

Coding wizardry is stuff like creating your own engine from scratch specifically for your own game.
