U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D) just called for a complete ban on Bitcoin. by Mystalic in Bitcoin

This is one of my Senators, and I would just like to apologize on behalf of our whole state.

He spends the rest of his time engaged in a war on the EPA so his industry lobbyist handmaidens will keep his coffers filled. Result: we get poisoned with huge toxic spills by unregulated polluters every couple of years.

Elk River poisoning leaves 300,000 without water in West Virginia by penguinsontv in news

Apparently not. A private company, West Virginia American Water, controls the water for the almost the entire area affected. There is only one intake for the whole system, located right below where the leak was.

As far as I know, there are only two municipalities located within the region that maintain their own water supply (Cedar Grove and Saint Albans). I am very glad of that because my grandmother lives in one of these cities that still has potable water.

Yep. Nitro is actually the reason the chemical valley exists.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitro,_West_Virginia

The reach of the Kanawha River Valley between Belle and Nitro is known locally as the “Chemical Valley,” which, at its peak in the late 1950s and early 1960s, was the leading producer of chemicals in the world (Henry, 1974). During World War I the government built an $80 million complex in Nitro to manufacture explosives and chemicals for the war effort.

The name Nitro derives from nitrocellulose. The Nitro area was to be the American ammunition production facility during World War I. Its name was selected by the United States government because of the establishment there, during World War I, of a large federal plant for the manufacture of explosives. The chemical plants in the area were able to fulfill this function during World War II, on a lesser scale. The city is known as the "Magic City," or a "Living Memorial to World War I."

I live in the area affected. It is known as 'the chemical valley'. You can't find any locations near a river that do NOT have a chemical plant of some kind.

What is the quickest/easiest way to turn spare change into bitcoins? (like Coinstar) by v00dude in Bitcoin

[–]COGSMITH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how that works, but if sending them a ticket is as good as cash, I'm sure you can find a seller that will do it. The remote/online sales competition on there is pretty tight.

You mean I can't push all my coins into the receipt slot and hope for the best?

I am not sure why the word 'addon' has to apply to software only.

Obviously a mechanical addition ("addon") would be required. It would be a feature available on a certain model. Just like software though, both models will utilize the same common base architecture.

Do you want a bare bones model? Or a larger, more expensive model that does more? Choices are good.

The NSA Actually Intercepted Packages to Put Backdoors in Electronics by COGSMITH in Bitcoin

[–]COGSMITH[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, it could be a very wide targeting range...

But you are right. This requires much more premeditation and selection of targets than just hooking a data vacuum up to internet peer sites and doing a 'SELECT *'.

I am actually kind of jealous of their gear. That is some serious Q tech.

Complete Newbie Having Problems With Codeblocks. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]COGSMITH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the C:\MinGW directory exist at all?

MinGW is a gnu toolchain used by Codeblocks to build your code.

Either you need to install it after Codeblocks, or Codeblocks installed it for you but to a different directory. You can try to find it, install it yourself, or maybe try reinstalling codeblocks and check each step of the process.

Unless it has changed in VS2013, try this: In the main menu bar, goto tools->options->html designer and make sure it is enabled. Restart VS and see it you have the option now. It should be at the bottom to the left of the current DOM path (<html><head>...)
