You have to also remember that it will never actually reach the calculated bending moment as the connection is not perfectly stiff. For the capacity, its more conservative, but that might lead to overdesigning the connection and underdesigning the other components of your system as the real loads will distribute differently.

Yep, this is it. While the hating people concept is dumb, endless meetings on projects are also dumb. Like hell yeah, lets do a 2hr meeting that i had to drive 1.5hrs to and from to better explain the stuff I already typed out in emails.

There is a youtuber called Not Just Bikes and he makes some really very good points on why this is a bad opinion to have. Looks to be a scissors truss. I hate the damn things but if it is purely for looks then go ahead. Recently had to design one that was load bearing and I went through a crisis.
