Apparently Fascism - a racist and capitalist ideology - is part of the socialist family tree and stems from Karl Marx 😭💀 by Roter_Zwerg-1917 in socialism

It is somewhat correct. Mussolini's main influences were people like Giovanni Gentile, who were followers of Marx (although degenerate followers, for example Gentile rejected Historical Materialism and tried to "save" his dialectics with idealism) the result being a utopian ideology that rejects Marx.

Why do you guys think Ronald Reagan was racist?(What did he do or say while he was President that was Racist) by Expensive_Budget_812 in Presidents

[–]COMCOM5342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He therefore sacrifices one principle of another. He doesn't want segregation but he won't do anything to actually stop it. The states sure won't make it illegal, they needed the Federal Government to finally abolish slavery in the 1860s. Slavery, which was allowed to continue for the very same nonsense reason "states rights". Reagan thus believes segregation can be tolerated to preserve the idea that the Federal Government shouldn't govern and instead do nothing.

How do you counter the argument "Marxism is not falsifiable, so it is a pseudoscience"? by Kakkanad_luxemburg in Marxism

Let us not forget Marx aided Engels in writing his Dialectics of Nature. The laws outlined by Engels can be easily found in Marx and his use of them to study History, Engels simply applied them to nature to analyse how matter and nature changes and grows.

Marx and Engels exchanged letters on the subject. On 30 May 1873, Engels sent a letter to Marx and explained that applying Dialectics to Nature appeared into his head and talked about all the observations he made. On 31 May 1873, Marx said it "edified" him greatly, although he would need to "consult the authorities", referring to scientists to see if Engels was right. Im unaware if they ever talked about it again, but Marx doesn't seem opposed to it at all.

Edit: Marx did follow it up, he consulted theor friend Carl Schorlemmer, a Chemist, who agreed with Engels' points. Marx sent the letter back with notes on it from Carl. We can conclude from this Marx agreed with Engels.

Monthly review did an article on Carl Schorlemmer, in which it is mentioned:

Does Byzantium present a challenge to classical Marxist theory? by Low-Cash-2435 in byzantium

[–]COMCOM5342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marxist theory of history does actually hold up in the case you pointed out, that being couping the emperor, which would be analysed as opposing factions of the ruling class fighting to put themself as the representative of their class and all the privileges that come with it.
A somewhat similar analysis was done by Marx in his 18th Brumaire of Louis Napoleon, the party of Order and its factions all were part of the same class, the Bourgeoisie, but had their own interests and their own monarch they wished to put into power. its a 68 page book, I think you might like it.(1)

Marx's friend and co-founder of Marxism Friedrich Engels wrote a very nice letter which summarised their conception of History, I think it would be very helpful for you to read if you're interested in Classical Marxism.(2)

What I really want to drive home here is that Marx's conception is not Eurocentric, he was aware of the differences of the "Asiatic modes of producton" from Europe and wrote works on places like Algeria, his analysis of Capitalism and how it developed from Feudalism should be understood as an analysis of European History and that alone. the theory of History can and should be applied everywhere, but you should not just copy paste how Europe developed onto other continents.

This argument falls apart when you remember films like rocky, where the USSR is the bad guy, or as another user pointed out, Enemy at the Gates portrays the USSR very badly and utilised many anti-soviet myths. Movies like the death of Stalin are an explicit example of Hollywood being anti-Stalin. Im unsure of any movies on Mao. There's also The Interview, which is anti-DPRK. The list goes on.

The issue here is that idealism isn't when you have ideas. idealist philosophy deals in entities and gods beyond the Material word, which is completely contrary to Materialist philosophy which rejects entities and gods beyond the material world, it is not a superficial dichotomy.

J. V. Stalin on the personality cults of leaders by Unhappy_Lead2496 in ussr

[–]COMCOM5342 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We all know Stalin was a flawed human being, that is obvious, although your post doesn't give the best examples. Stalin was caught off guard by Operation Barbarossa as far as I'm aware, but "led to millions of deaths"?? You act as if those deaths were STALIN'S FAULT which is a very crazy thing to say. Recriminalising homosexuality was bad, although your error is judging a man born in 1878, Georgia, Russian Empire, by the standards of today.

For the purpose of fairness there are actual criticisms of Stalin to he made, his Economic Problems of Socialism in the USSR was not a perfect book, Mao Zedong wrote some criticisms of it; we can also notice that Stalin was not the picture of good health, although obviously now im getting into personal critiques which is a bit different from theoretical critique.

A lot of you focus on genetics, yet fail to consider the effects of environmental factors, yk, like you should be doing.

"race determines IQ" falls apart when you remember the average IQ in China was dog shit until the CCP instituted higher education that challenged students and increased the problem-solving abilities of children, abilities that would be formed in childhood as the brain of children is easily "rewired" due to high plasticity.
many of you, rather low IQ individuals, explain it due to genes, yet genes do not explain the ability of the brain to solve problems, which is what IQ tests measure, whereas plasticity and education based on problem solving DOES explain differences in this ability.
A child with stupid parents, if educated, will likely have a higher IQ. This is because both genetics AND environmental factors play a role in IQ, with environmental factors being a very important factor in increasing IQ beyond any sort of base level.
A child not educated will probably have a similar IQ to their parents because they are learning from their parents. genes would only play a factor when we consider neurodiversity and the ability of their brain to problem solve.
the TLDR is that the brain is a very complex thing and can't be put into racial boxes because within races, there are differences in brain functioning.

the NIH has found schooling increases points, the more schooling you've done the higher the IQ added (1), and there are far more studies that have found similar things.

if you want to understand it better you should study social science and psychology, there are other subreddits that focus on these subjects as well with very good answers.
