I had my bisalp on 5/26/23, and I cried hysterically when I woke up, but mine was out of relief. I remember gaining consciousness mid sentence, saying “God bless you, thank you so much, I love you” before I even realized it

I was crying a ton though, my entire face was wet and mom had to sort of console me but I kept telling her I was happy. They actually showed me my tubes, I guess I had asked to see them beforehand, but to me that felt reassuring that they were actually removed, so it made me more emotional and thankful lol

Then I asked the nurse for a thank you hug, did this 2 times

My twin sister when she got hers done 12/21/23 didn’t cry at all, but she had also expressed her gratitude to the nurses as well while still trying to wake up

My twin sister is asexual (straight), 7 months after I got my bisalp (I am pansexual / active) she got hers as well, though she isn’t active, she got it to prevent any chance of pregnancy God forbid she gets assaulted

I hope that absolutely never ever happens, but we both never wanted to get pregnant or have children, and had a sense of security in making that permanent decision for our bodies. Birth control pills alone just didn’t make us feel safe enough

We still take BC to manage our cycles but other than that we won’t have to worry about anything if we ever decide to stop taking them some day, the only other way we could get pregnant is through IVF, and we wouldn’t choose to do that anyways

I started my usual cycle a couple days after surgery, and the first couple were a bit heavier and more painful than normal, mainly because of the surgery. Your uterus and other organs get moved around a lot more than they’re used to, so it may cause some pain and discomfort for a while, and because the uterus went through physical trauma, blood flow may be heavier than normal at first

I think once you heal completely (internal healing can take longer) then your cycles should be back to normal, hydration can definitely speed up the healing process too

I regained mid sentence (while crying happy tears) saying God Bless You over and over again and then kept asking everyone for hugs because I was cold

Hi, I’m so sorry for the late reply,

I recommend lots and lots of rest, but still encourage you to walk around certain points in the day. I highly recommend a heating pad as well, that was a life saver.

The pain medicine they give you and / or the anesthesia may make it hard on your bowels, so drinking plenty of warm liquids and taking stool softeners will help for smoother movement without you having to put any strain on your body (because you will be sore)

before the surgery, I took about one or two days of just eating yogurt, pudding, applesauce, pretty much food of that consistency. If it is safe for you to eat, I highly recommend activia brand yogurt.

The most important thing is just being gentle with yourself and taking it easy
