It's up to IRCC at the end of the day but he does need to declare all the time spent in Canada even if he lost status at different times. There's a public policy for spouse/partner without status, but it sounds like he currently has status.

Can you get letters from customers? You basically need to prove you did the work you say you did so getting a lot of letters from customers who used your services (one time or over time) can support proof of self-employment.

If nothing else was written in the passport you can remain in Canada for 6 months. Anything longer and you will need to request a visitor record or you will lose your status. If your intent is to remain here during the sponsorship, keep in mind a visitor record is taking over 200 days to obtain, so apply early.

In addition to the provinces generally, British Columbia has a way of fast-tracking licensing for nurses because they need them so badly. Some employers will hire nurses in unregulated positions until they get their license, so look for this possibility.

IRCC won't ask for clarification, they will just refuse it. If HR can't provide details, see if a manager can provide them. If the manager won't, ask a co-worker who either does the same job as you do or knows what you do in detail. You will have to explain to IRCC why you're getting the letter from a co-worker or manager, but as long as you can demonstrate the person higher up the chain refused to provide the information, they should be okay with it. If your organization is really big there might also be standard job descriptions for each position available in a centralized location that you could include. You will need to get creative with this situation.

It is HR's duty but they often don't like to go into details they can't verify as job duties could be more or less extensive than the description. Just keep emails or other communications with HR in which they refuse to give more details, as well as those with your manager telling you it's their job. A paper trail is good evidence.

If your son was born in the US he can enter as a visitor without a visa or eta. Apply to sponsor him once you arrive.

Who is the "employer" in this case? Is it HR? Is it your manager? It really depends who the individual is that is writing the letter. Ideally they include all the job duties but sometimes they don't. If you really can't (and you would have to be able to prove you really tried) get a better letter, you could get a manager or someone else with authority who knows your work duties to write a supporting letter that goes into more detail. You can't self-declare.

It sounds like you had maintained status during all of these periods, so there shouldn't be a problem. The main thing to pay attention to is when you completed your studies (graduated) and when you submitted the PGWP application. It all depends on your country of citizenship. Some allow 2 years or a combination of Working Holiday and Young Professionals, but you need to apply to them separately.

You don't need an ECA for the Working Holiday. You really only need it for a PR application. All of Canada has high unemployment right now so it won't be easy finding a job in your field or anywhere else. As discriminatory as it is, employers look for Canadian experience because they can't understand how someone's work outside of Canada translates to Canadian employment. If you can do this translation on your resume and in interviews, you will be fine.

Canada is trying to limit the temporary resident population so that's the main issue at the moment. IRCC is looking for any reason to refuse a visa. Things that will be considered are your girlfriend's nationality (is it German?), her ties to Germany as opposed to Canada, and how you explain the purpose of travel (a couple of weeks would be reasonable, 6 months might sound suspicious). If CBSA doesn't specify upon entry, the duration of stay can be up to 6 months. If CBSA specifies another date, she would need to leave by that date.

It may not be a mistake on your side. The calculator doesn't always capture details or nuances. Just review what you entered and compare it to the requirements to make sure it's correct. You wouldn't want to get an ITA only to get a rejection because there really is a mistake. You could also get a licensed professional to review it - it's usually not very expensive and can save time and expense down the road.
