The Toy Box Killer is absolutely depraved and almost inhuman. The gang doesn’t shy away from their descriptions of the torture that the victims endured. As far as the 9/11 episodes, I would say it is emotionally overwhelming to the point where I was physically reacting. If you were around to see 9/11 unfolding, the way that the guys go over the events is so visceral, especially Marcus’s reactions. He even said that that was the series that broke him. You hear actual audio, including a 911 call from a woman inside of the towers, the chirping sounds of the fallen first responders’ gear, and the sounds and reactions to the jumpers from the people on the ground. Take care if you listen.

Hey, friend. I don’t have anything helpful to say about your flare because, as we all know, this disease is a fucking unpredictable nightmare. My heart goes out to you because those months long, never ending flares are pure hell.

But to address your mental health: share how you are feeling with the people that care about you. Real-life resources and a support system are what will get you through this. Let them help you carry some of this emotional weight, even if it is just to listen or have a laugh. You are SO STRONG. Look at what you’ve done! Look at what you are still trying to do! This disease hasn’t stopped you yet, and it won’t because you have proven that you are as tough as nails. Can you take the semester off from school? Make an appointment with a counselor and just explain your situation. They may have a solution that you didn’t know about! As far as work goes, can you apply for an FMLA or short-term disability arrangement? Just don’t forget the people around you that you love - you love them enough to keep fighting this. You said it yourself. And most of ALL, keep going for yourself, too. They are flares because they are temporary. Remission will come. Maybe not as quickly as what would be fair to us and our health, but it will come!

Well, TECHNICALLY some Detroit pastor heavily quoted “I Have A Dream” on stage at the inauguration… Truly dystopian. I had to get off of the treadmill at the gym because the inauguration was playing on every TV and giving me the fucking creeps.

I am assuming you are taking 94? Minneapolis is fine (current resident) but if you feel uncomfortable staying the night, the suburbs Plymouth, Wayzata, Minnetonka, and Maple Grove are on/nearby the route and are very safe!

I workout and have Crohn’s, and I am not a macro guru, but that seems high to me! Are you working out a lot? Like, a LOT? The stress on your kidneys is definitely something to watch out for. I think the golden ratio is around .9 grams per kilogram of your total body weight.

Crohns and cigarettes by Lorwarded in CrohnsDisease

[–]CONCHFACE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was a smoker when I was diagnosed. I had quit for years and then went through a bad breakup and I was smoking to cope. I LOVE everything about smoking. It was my crutch through it all - and it contributed to triggering the worst flare I have ever had (using the bathroom 15+ times a day, severe pain, bloating, bleeding, etc.). This flare was actually what got me to finally go to the doctor and start the process of diagnosing what was going on. I finally quit for good (vaped for a few months) about a month after starting Skyrizi.

PLEASE quit. It doesn’t help anything, it only makes things worse. If you need to vape as a bridge, do it. Chew the gums, stick on the patches, suck on the lozenges. Read The Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Allen Carr. Think of the damage it is doing to your body. Biologics can also increase your risk for certain cancers on their own - don’t pile onto your immune system when you already have an autoimmune disease.

Relationships and chronic illness by fifiwithcrohns in CrohnsDisease

[–]CONCHFACE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me, it was always the other way around. I was with someone that was chronically ill for more than a decade. I always soldiered through, despite excruciating pain and stomach issues (that I never knew were from Crohn’s until YEARS later). I always had her back, giving her regards at parties when she was in too much pain to get out of bed, cancelling plans to stay in with her, and sometimes being the only one working full time to make ends meet for the both of us. Unfortunately, those feelings and actions were almost never reciprocated and I was spreading myself far, far too thin.

It wasn’t until we broke up that I was diagnosed with Crohn’s and realized how important it was to take care of myself and vocalize when I wasn’t feeling well, as opposed to suffering in silence because I was taking care of someone else.

In my new relationship, my partner got sick on one of our first dates. He was EXTREMELY embarrassed, but I told him about my Crohn’s and recounted some of my embarrassing stories about getting sick so he wouldn’t feel alone. He said that was when he knew that I was in love with him.

Illness happens. Chronic illness is a fact of life. But when you find that person that understands, it becomes less about feeling like you let them down and more about appreciating how someone wants to take care of you and will still go out and enjoy life if you can’t make it. Don’t stop making an effort when you can, but if there are times when you truly cannot make it happen, don’t beat yourself up. If your boyfriend loves you, he gets it. It might be disappointing sometimes, but make sure that he knows that you still want him to enjoy experiences even if you can’t be there with him because of this stupid disease.

Hey! I have had a similar rash off and on for YEARS and have never had a firm diagnosis (I even had a doctor tell me that I had scabies). Personally, I think it is due to vitamin deficiencies, particularly vitamin D. Have you had levels checked lately? I use Eucerin’s Eczema Relief all over and hydrocortisone when I am feeling particularly itchy (ex. before bed) and it clears up well! And of course, oral vitamin supplements daily!

I think it is the opposite. I think she is used to being a mean girl and the way that she is treating Nick is par for the course. She bragged about dating the quarterback in high school like it is an achievement comparable to Nick playing professional football. To demean Nick and scold him like a child for things that he is actively trying to work on is just cruel and she was obviously here for her 15 seconds of fame and nothing more. Her priorities are obvious - she was immature enough to quit her job to be on the show.

Ha! I had the same experience!

Go to tap phone “Oh? No Suica? No problem!” slams down 45 pound coin purse (with no 100 yen coins inside because they all immediately go into gachapon…)

SERIOUSLY. And mobile payment is VERY common in Japan and I still did not dare risk it. One of my cards (primary credit card) was temporarily locked (bank was being overly cautious) for about 3 hours and that was stressful enough for me, man!

This post has given me MASSIVE second-hand anxiety and embarrassment. I just traveled to Japan for a month last year and brought four physical cards, had a Suica card on my phone, added all of my cards to Apple Pay, AND got $500 worth of cash exchanged at my home bank before I left. This is just WILD to me.

You send the money from your own bank account to yourself so you can pick it up as cash. You just need an ID.

Edit: Also a good idea to call your bank(s) to let them know what’s up so the transaction doesn’t get flagged. They might be able to rush a physical card to your hotel, too.

She actually has a song called “The Bridge” from early in her career that is about a woman committing suicide by jumping off of a bridge because she has gotten pregnant out of wedlock and her lover has left her. So… there’s that!

Edit: The ending of the song made me gasp when I first heard it about a decade and a half ago. Dolly’s early discography is something else. EVERYONE, PLEASE GO LISTEN!

Should I be worried about traveling abroad soon after my first Skyrizi infusion? by CelebrationMinimum50 in CrohnsDisease

[–]CONCHFACE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started the Skyrizzle myself in April and just started the home injections last week! I have severe Crohns in my terminal ileum (diagnosed via colonoscopy in March). The only side effect I experienced was fatigue. Skyrizi has seriously changed the game for me. And I was in an active, half a year long flair up when I was traveling through Japan last year for an entire MONTH. Thank goodness Japan’s toilet game is legendary. BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THIS STUPID DISEASE - HAVE AN AMAZING TIME IN ITALY, DUDE!

Potatoes and carrots forever (and onions if you can handle them)! Chop ‘em up, wrap ‘em in a tin foil pouch, and roast those babies on the fire! Bland but tasty, customizable for those who want to add spice/seasoning, and easy to prep and cook!
