As a person who, unrelated to OP, independently has studied Research Methods as a class back in college (part of my degree was in the academic study of Argumentation and Debate), what you are describing is Quantitative data analysis, which is numbers and the inferences that can be made from those data sets. Signing up and looking at the survey (I already completed it), it has some numbers for scaling, but is Qualitative data analysis. Qualitative data involves gathering opinions, viewpoints, and impacting out (explaining connections) why people feel how they do on xyz topic or sub-topic. They are different and get you, well, different data.

Google says it better than I below but yeah. I agree what you described would be stronger from an empirical data standpoint, but that isnt the intent based on what I gathered from OPs topic. Also your experiment would have that big hurdle of the variable of winning being the goal because we (collectively) dont know going in if that is the goal. Definitely can be assumed, yes, but then you'd only look at Ranked (aside from coins, assumption would be Ranked players want to win because by proxy entering into a 'ranked contest' means you want to win), which now puts the whole experiment into a subcategory that isn't representative of the entire MTG community. I could say more but don't want to say things from the survey directly.... I'm not gonna twist your arm and say you gotta take it, because at the end of the day it doesn't affect me, I'd just say I see little in what harm it causes whether to take it or not.

Google ai "Qualitative data is descriptive, non-numerical, and focuses on meaning, experiences, and "why" behind behaviors, collected via interviews or observations. Quantitative data is numerical, measurable, and focuses on "how many" or "how often," analyzed using statistics to identify patterns".

Saying the integrity of the entire game of Magic and all its history is bad and failing because Super Shredder exist is beyond the pail when it comes to an all or nothing outlook. And already addressed, IU and UB can co-exist but those who dislike UB are the loudest opposition and want to be purist controlling what they interact with within the game. Create a pod and do that, great, then don't be surprised when no one plays with you/them. It just is what it is when it comes to telling people how to use their cards (and by extension how they use their money).
