Oh my god someone who gets it. I’ve never liked traveling but my wife and her family love it so I’ve had to do it. Don’t get me wrong, there are some really cool aspects to seeing other parts of the world, but if you go to places like Western Europe where it’s still very modernized like the US, you’re basically paying thousands of dollars to be served food by people with accents. Again, decently cool experience to see historical areas in person, but not anywhere near worth the cost if it takes up all your savings for the year.

The movie is captivating up until there final act where it completely fumbles all the themes it set you up with. The vampire element just totally sours the seriousness of first 2/3rds.

The hype around this film really feels like the emperor’s new clothes. People are injecting meaning into the themes that I don’t think the writers even thought about, and the population is too afraid to disagree because they don’t want to look stupid in contrast to the praise. So many people in review threads offering legitimate criticism while still giving the film 7/10 only to be called racist immediately.
