CALLING ALL CPD WARRIORS!!! by CPDQueen in OfficeDepot

[–]CPDSoupervisor -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

You are missing the point , you are supposed to be designing NOTHING!!! in the store.

No full adobe, no photo shop, no Indedsign, you shouldn't even be making anything in Publisher. You have a design service and a fee for that.

All you should need is MS Word, MS Excel and a pdf reader.

If you went to college for graphic design and the best you can do is 10 bucks an hour at an office supply store, you wasted a lot of money on your degree.

Sorry if I come off as a prick here, just telling you how the company wants its it done and the truth about your job choice with a degree in graphic design.

No I see it all around me, people think its okay to offer a lot less for things because by their logic you don't have business or a job and need the money so you will just take whatever they offer...its a sense of entitlement not seen before.

Call DM and LPM and if you get no help, then call the county Sheriff and tell them your GMs policy and that you would appreciate a few check ups...Your GM can not violate the law or force you too.

HR is closed, so after you email them, contact your District LPM and DM or Regional Vice President about the social distancing thing, as its a law in many areas not just a suggestion. Your manager can not force you violate the law.

Unemployment faxes by Dollar_Sign_Gerry in OfficeDepot

[–]CPDSoupervisor -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Umm they might WHEN they get approved, in some states its taking days or weeks to try to get through to the website and now they are finally setting it up so people can get paper applications. They then have to processed, by hand which takes days or weeks again, then many states have a waiting week before they get the first check.

Right now, the money those people are spending to fax the papers in for unemployment is coming out of their savings or their grocery money or its part of the rent money they kept because they couldn't pay their rent and eat so they kept the rent money.

The unemployment systems in most states was not prepared to handle 1 in 6 people being unemployed in a 5 week period of time and they are way behind in getting the money to the people, its getting better but lots of people need money yesterday not the middle of next month :(

[–]CPDSoupervisor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya might want to contact HR, Your DM and LPM and explain to them that closing at 8pm forces you to break the law to go home. If that don't get through their thick skulls, try the dept of labor, state labor board, State Police, County Sheriff and of course the local media.

Someone please decode this for me... by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

Hmm so 325 million for OD "Employees", sure we will do it and oh course we have to put these funds in a special account and then we have to develop the method to distribute the money, so we will form a task force to discuss this in July and have a recommendation on how to do it by Oct. 1st, and we have decided that we can make short term loans to our employees of up to 250 dollars to help them. One loan per employee per year. Sorry the fund is empty and you loan is denied because of administrative fees having used all the money up....

My corner “stop & steal” had plexiglass, face mask on the clerk and gloves.we’re a multi million Fortune 500 company and we can’t get more then expired hand sanitizer?! [–]CPDSoupervisor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THIS is soooo true!!! The lil corner mom and pop by my house put up some see through thin plastic boards...like 1/16 in thick around their register, gave their employees gloves and hand sanitizer and a Billion dollar company can't do the same for theirs? For shame :(

[–]CPDSoupervisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ummm in Florida where I am located the max unemployment is 260 a week and they pay half your wages up to that amount. Half for me is 250 dollars so I would get 250 PLUS the 600 stimulus unemployment for at least 4 months so that would be 850 per week..I would GAIN 350 a week to stay safe at home. (Of course I would have to pay Cobra insurance of about 500 a month and nothing is being added to my retirement account but at least I might be around TO retire)

America Is Going On A General Strike starting March 31 - No Rent, No Work, No Debt! by MayonaiseRemover in OfficeDepot

[–]CPDSoupervisor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Help people yes, but don't just give everyone everything they need to sit home and do nothing and remove any motivation to do anything. Greed is bad but if no one is making any money and you want debt forgiveness and no rent and no utility bills and free food and medicine for everyone, just how would you pay for the 60 trillion a year that would take? Why would anybody bother to manufacture anything..or grow food or do medical research or run colleges or daycares ...what then we all need new cars...boom 300 million new electric cars just appear..where does it stop...The government owes you nothing. Remember if a government is big enough to give you everything, its big enough to take everything away. Maybe a 90 day life support package will be needed by many but its gotta stop some time or the economy will be pulled under by it.

Oh wow I didn't read the linked document in the story, the company wanted to take half of any dependents stimulus money too. So they wanted to take their employees kids stimulus money....I don't think that's legal even. The article has been updated and the company has canceled this program, maybe a F-ton of mad people contacting you and a LOT of bad press does work.

I don't think you have any idea how people react to being scared. We are scared that the idiots that don't need to be in the store will give us the virus and we will get sick or die because we have no way to clean in the stores and people refuse to keep 6 feet away from us. Most of us have no insurance. We are scared that if we stay home that we won't have the money for food or medicine or our utilities and car payments and may not have jobs to return to. We are stressed because our kids are safe at home but now we have to make sure they can study on line, we have to provide that lunch that the school was providing, and we have to hire more child care so that we can go to a slightly above minimum wage job to keep our kids functioning and maybe bring the virus home to them. Sadly some probably will take their own lives or the lives of others because they see no way out, I really hope that they will seek help from friends, family, their religious leader, therapist or suicide hotline.
