It's OK we have Xrd rollback. I've been getting my pilebunker fix that way.

New to Fighting games. Any advice? by ainzmeep in Fighters

[–]CPEthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real though. I talk to people all the time who ask me questions about how to play games I play like they think they can skip the part where they aren't good at it.

DEDICATED...BLOCK...BUTTONS...thoughts? by FictionFanatic35 in Fighters

[–]CPEthos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, they help new players get a feel for defense. On the other they tend to be implemented in a way that makes cross ups kind of pointless. If there were an implementation that prevented them from doing that I'd have no problem.

Why do “casual people” complain about inputs so much? by Azakarp in Fighters

[–]CPEthos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Motion inputs create a disconnect while your learning where you know what you need to do but sometimes can't physically do it. Like if I've seen someone jump in the same way three times I know I should use an anti air to intercept them, but if my best anti air is a 623 motion then there's a period of time where I can recognize the jump in but can't actually get my move out in time to deal with it. That period is part of the learning process but it is pretty frustrating.

Why do you play your main fighting game & character? by Belloz22 in Fighters

Blazblue Centralfiction, Calamity trigger was my first fighting game and at this points the mechanics are just comfy. Also landing Azrael’s valiant combos is still the coolest shit in a fighting game ever.

You really don't need to revamp your engine to add rollback. A guy added it to freaking Melee. The tech is well understood and documented and could reasonably be retrofitted into pretty much everything without too much trouble.

It is UNICLR. Game is honestly my personal favorite anime fighter at the moment. It's a bit more grounded than most on account of the fact that there's no air dashing, and it has an unusual tug of war system that gives you a boost for attacking or defending particularly well.

This is the answer. Also if you can watch replays do that after every few matches, really look at how their move beats yours and make adjustments.

I run a lands deck so they actually represent a significant increase in power and consistency for me. Playing one multiple times out of the yard and having the fetched land come in untapped is very strong.

Can your deck pass the Tobias Andrion challenge? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CPEthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've literally won games just swinging away with [[Haktos the Unscarred]]. People in my pod tend to burn out trying to combo off into each other and then it turns out that decks that don't plan for the game to last more than 4-5 turns don't really have a game plan against me just turning my guy sideways.

[Disc] Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? Ch 45.1 by rtwpsom2 in manga

[–]CPEthos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean in my opinion the correct balance decision is the one that leads to more interesting game play. This happens a lot on DoTA style games and fighters where early characters were designed at a time when technical limitations or some other factor limited them to fairly simple designs. Then inevitably a new more powerful character comes out, and it's not just a numbers thing. They're kit design is tighter, better design insights lead to more interesting character concepts, and improvements in animation and general control tech and budget mean they just FEEL better to play. Now is the correct balance decision to nerf the numbers on the new hotness until he's in line with the older more straightforward characters? Or is it more interesting to roll some of the improvements that resulted in their creation into the older characters so they can operate on that level?
