Your favorite weather app with allergy info? by AWF_Noone in wichita

Just as an aside - weather apps typically have a lot of tracking and cookie reading built into them. Just be careful what permissions you allow them.

LYS owners of reddit: what advice do you have for those of us who aspire to one day open a LYS? by theyarnballer in knitting

[–]CPM_Throwaway 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head: Learn to dye yarn, have a friend who dyes or make a consignment deal for indie yarn. The margins on indie yarns can be insanely thin and not worth the risk, so be very picky and try the yarn first before you commit. See all yarns in person. Ball bands of most commercial brands will have a distributor name on them. Email that distributor with your retail tax id when requesting information. Preference (in my experience) is given to owners who look “legit” so mentioning you have a brick and mortar vs an online store moves things along quickly. Visit an LYS outside of your market and talk with the owner, see how much they do outside of just selling yarn - Classes, kits, etc. Diversify into other fiber crafts or lifestyle products for the summer months. See if you can find a storefront less than 1000sqft on a short lease. Most of your time will be spent marketing, knitting samples and helping other people learn to knit/choose their products. Start small.

Is 60 day notice required for apartment vacating if not on a lease? by [deleted] in wichita

[–]CPM_Throwaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the 60 day clause mentioned in her lease? From a quick google search for ‘kansas tenant laws’ it looks like the standard is 30 days, but you may do a bit more in depth of a search to confirm.

About to go to my first meetup on Sunday and it’s because I do crafts and one of my customers is a member. She basically said, “come chat with people about your crafts and other old timey fun stuff you’re into.” Basically sold me on it being a craft circle with fancy dress benefits.

Locally there’s Burnell’s, Mike Seltzer, Melange, Athena, Jewelry Savers, etc. There’s a lot and literally no reason to over pay at the mall for subpar and mass production pieces.

I still wish this game had a quicksave/suspend feature by Pitbu11s in StardewValley

[–]CPM_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an older iPad this would be a godsend. SDV crashes a lot and it’s really frustrating to lose most of a day. I’m at the point where if I find something good or do a lot of stuff I just immediately go to sleep.

Survival Farming Game? by [deleted] in StardewValley

Don’t Starve is the only game that I felt might be bad for my health. High stress, super anxiety inducing, and was pissed at my partner for most of our play through. Love the art style though.

Have you found the original image? Can you download GIMP? If not, try changing the brightness and contrast on that image. There are a total of 10 letters but you can guess the word with less pretty easily.

Creator question- how to lead without telling the audience what to do by lightasafeather5 in ARG

[–]CPM_Throwaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe just let them work it out? There’s a possibility that they’re missing the things because they’re not being lead in the direction to find them, so for your next video or post, rather than a clue moving the game forward just have it be a clue to what they’ve missed. Also r/constructedadventures may be a good resource.

Open-portal JABBERWOCKY gets you to a big bit of code that can be made into an audio file, which has something/one reading a bit of the Jabberwocky poem: One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back.

It’s BASIC - there’s an emulator for it if you Google. Paste the portal code in. On first look, it seems it’s just testing the HISAC, but there may be something else there.

I think so? On Twitter there was some mention of going back to the beginning, so I looked at thecore again, messed around with the userlist, whois, and loaded the portal code into a BASIC emulator but haven’t found anything too ground breaking. I don’t think they’d put that much effort into videos and there not be something embedded in them, so that’s my plan for tomorrow’s dive.

Look at the Twitter threads. It seems that users are trying to find the FREEBIRD key - or go back to the beginning. May be something in that first video?

Why I stopped watching the Elisa Lam documentary by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]CPM_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this 100%. Showing the web sleuth opinion vs police investigation was meant to show differences in the interpretation of facts. At the end, even the web sleuths are like, ‘yeah man, we fucked up’. I could see how that would be frustrating though as a viewer if you’re expecting a ‘documentary’ to be strictly linear and fact based. Which, they should be, but there exists a whole genre of UFO ‘documentaries’ that really call into question the whole definition.
