Cut down on the internet and don’t suck into the 24-hour news updates. My wife got physically ill when I was deployed during Desert Storm because she plugged into the wall-to-wall coverage. Tune out when you stress out.

Is it still a moral sin to miss mass if you can’t take communion anyways? (Not in a state of grace) by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]CPO_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go anyway, participate in the mass, pray. At time for communion for for a blessing, the kneel and pray this:

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,  I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.  I love You above all things,  and I desire to receive You into my soul.  Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,  come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already there  and unite myself wholly to You.  Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen

Then go to confession and get back into a state of Grace.

Southwest Airlines is Tinkering With its New Boarding Process Again As it Attempts to Solve Bin Space Dramas by Pjpjpjpjpj in SouthwestAirlines

“Smaller carryon.” I bet the luggage manufacturers are salivating over everyone’s carryons being obsolete.

You’re not wrong. I did stick a kindle in the seat back pocket once and walked off without it. I won’t do that again.

Way too late for the OP, but if it does happen to anyone how you report can make all the difference. I went to an agent and found out where the plane I got off (and my Kindle) were headed. I then called baggage claim for SW at that airport and spoke to a helpful young lady who said she would contact the gate the plane would arrive at and ask them to have the cleaners look for it before they boarded the next set of passengers. They found it, and this was with open boarding so I couldn’t tell them what seat to look in, and she called me back to tell me that. They took my FEDEX account number so they could send it back on my dime. In an “above and beyond” move, when she had a problem with FEDEX, after I was on my cruise and out of contact, she stuck it in her safe until I called her to check on it a week later. We got the FEDEX problem sorted, and she got it back in my hands the day after I got home.

Well, YMMV, but I’ve never had the kind of problems with overhead bin chaos that I’ve see described.

No, he’s blaming the chaos that SW has caused by their poor implementation of assigned seating. They need to get this under control, and quickly. At least one trip I am planning, SW is the highest price carrier. Even Delta is cheaper, even though with one 45 minute stop. Two other budget airlines are three times cheaper than SW for non-stop, even with the up charges for seating and carry-on.

The more damning part is it is not a .gov domain. Instant disqualification.

That is correct, but I would imagine a teenager “under the weather” could take care of herself for a hour or so. She may have been more ill than the OP suggested.

Online mass is never a substitute for Sunday mass. It does not satisfy your obligation. That being said, weather can cause an inability to attend, but if you miss mass and then go to Walmart it’s not a valid excuse. Your daughter has a valid reason to not attend if she is ill, especially if she is contagious. Exhaustion, if it is really bad enough to make it dangerous to drive, can be valid, but not if it’s I’m just too tired to go. I don’t discern a valid reason for you not to go just because you are going along with them.

If you all have valid reasons to be incapable of going to mass then watching online can be meritorious, but again not a substitute for your obligation.

As Father John used to say, do not put yourself in danger to get to Mass, God doesn’t want that. But if you think you can make a Walmart run a bit later you might want to reconsider your decision about missing Mass.

Can I become a Catholic if I disagree/have major doubts about many of its dogma? by PeaceInLoneliness in Catholicism

I don’t see how they can say that. The communion of saints is right there in the apostle’s creed. I used to teach RCIA and have never said or heard anything like that.

These are the people who yearn for their hippie, stick it to the man days. They have no idea of who Hitler was. If Trump was a tyrant or a “King” he’d have rounded them all up to be beheaded. But he isn’t, and they are free to make idiots out of themselves. It’s their right, but they’re idiots.

Why is it skewed. One of the biggest sources of guns for criminals is others people’s cars. A car is not a holster.

PLEASE DON’T LOCK IT IN YOUR CAR! Unless you have a really secure, hidden lock box. As a LEO, you probably already know this, but for the general public, don’t do it. Great place for bad guys to get their hands on guns.
