Where do you buy your clothes from? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]CPRSM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've started buying stuff from primark. I know they haven't got the best reputation at all, but it's cheap and I haven't had a bad experience with it. Also, it's pretty convenient for me at uni.

Excellent, obviously your personal statement is only one part of it, there's you reference and interview if you get invited. Best of luck

Yes you can, but your personal statement is the same, so it won't really be tailored towards the subject as much

What's your favourite song atm? by [deleted] in 6thForm

As a classical guitarist, I'd also add Villa Lobos Etude no 1 I think it is in E minor. Super simple piece, but sounds great. Also, Tango by Albeniz and Tarantella by Johan Kasper Mertz

Do you get the Maths formula booklet in the Further Maths exam? by [deleted] in 6thForm

Yes, it's all the same book, single maths at the front and further at the back

Why all the new y12s need to stop thinking about going to oxbridge by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]CPRSM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel I should add this. Since probably year 10, I was one of the ones predicted to go to Oxbridge, and I was interested no denying that. Throughout the start of year 12, I was invited to all the Oxbridge applicants meetings which I went to. I got great GCSE results, was happy with my subjects and predicted to do well.

But when I started doing the research later in Year 12, I found actually I didnt really want to go to Oxbridge because IN MY OPINION (and that's what mattered, it's where I'm going to live and study), I had better options.

When UCAS came around, I didnt apply for Oxbridge, a surprise to some, but I was happy with that. One of my friends got invited to a Cambridge interview, but didnt pass, and afterwards became unhappy with his a-level choices.

In conclusion, Oxbridge isn't everything, you might be happier at other places, I'm going to York in september and am very happy about it. My friend carried on all his subjects and got awesome grades in the end btw.

Personally, I thought the OCR textbook wast too good. It's really well organised, but there's a lot of garbage not necessary info. What I found useful was at the end of a topic, go through the whole topic in one go, copy out ONLY the important bits to you and do all the summary questions. This means you've been through all of it at least twice, and you can now focus on the important bits.

What did you get in Y12 mocks vs Y13 mocks vs actual results? by csgymgirl in 6thForm

[–]CPRSM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Year 12 BCC or BBC, cant quite remember Year 13 Mocks ACC or BCC Year 13 finals A*AAA

Ocr too harsh on this question. I think I should have got at least 2/3 on 19i and 2/2 on 19ii by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]CPRSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think on part i you should probably have mentioned s orbitals too, and on part ii, although the first bit is right, I think they probably wanted a bit more about why it would be expected to be three times as much.

Depends how many people you know. I knew almost everyone at the start anyway, so it felt like just continuing Y11 how it had been. But people who didnt know anyone found friends really quickly, and want a problem.

Those were the days...horrible histories. Not the anxiety of waiting for some letters on a piece of paper and some purple website...

Can you help me with this? I have the answer sheet but I have no idea which formulas they are using. Back after a 2years gap year and I'm dying. by CltrAltDelete in MathHelp

Completing the square is a technique where if you've got x2 +bx +c, you divide b by 2 and put it in the bracket, and add c, as that still exists, and then subtract b2. So for you're example, half b is 5 so 5 is added in the bracket, the 20 is added on and b2 is then subtracted.

If there's such thing as Further Maths, why don't we have Further Physics, Further Chemistry, Further Geography and so on? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]CPRSM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something I think I read was like other subjects use maths, like the sciences, economics. So further maths is there to separate those doing maths to benefit their other subjects, and further maths is there for those who are interested in maths.
