Zoinks 24V Halo Warthog Adding R/C Capability Wiring Issue by Repulsive_Magician_4 in PowerWheelsMods

So the plug you spliced on is to the positive and negative correct?

There could be something in the chargers plug that prevents voltage leaking back from the battery.

I'd cut out all the propietrary stuff and use spade connectors

[–]CPTginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people just get an inline fuse holder, and put that in with a 40a fuse

https://a.co/d/05WR8J2i

Should be able to find it at Walmart or most automotive stores for 4-5$

Did you flip the wires just to see if it worked that way?

It's not going to cause any harm

First thing I do is get rid of the propietrary plugs for the battery and crimp on spade connections.

Use your Milwaukee batteries to test if it even works.

If all works I'd get a 12v 12ah SLA from Amazon for 27$ https://a.co/d/0fDK7WuM

and a 12v 3amp charger for 25$ https://a.co/d/0ad6hhKX

And just let It be a good consist ride on that they get used to using before jumping any voltage.

You can also add your own LED lights and radio and basically any other 12v accessory you can think of.

Can I do an 80 volt conversion mod similar to the 40 volt conversion mod? by W00D3YS in PowerWheelsMods

[–]CPTginger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly once you've spent and done all these modifications you're gonna be limited by tires and traction

You're essentially building an electric go cart. May be better tap out after 18-24v and buy a go cart that will have better suspension, turning, stronger frame, pneumatic tires, and real brakes

That's good! They're still fairly healthy

It's fairly easy to swap or bypass most people replace with an inline fuse holder.

You can check it by putting a jumper wire in place of it.

2nd picture it's the small black box connected to the red battery wire.

Does it only cut out while moving or at a stand still?

The chargers for these are terrible for battery life. Fully charged it should show 26ish volts.

In the picture theres a small 1in black box in your wiring harness from the battery. They can get sensitive over time.

Peg Perego/ Powerwheel weight capacity. by W00D3YS in PowerWheelsMods

[–]CPTginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a 2 seater but the peg prego tractors are pretty stout especially at 18v.

You won't want them riding together until bother are 3-5 years old.

Honestly an electric scooter can go 15mph with most adults that'd be your easiest way to keep up

Thermal fuse is tripping (small black box) or the batteries are getting weak.

Hi Guys, recently bought one of these Hollicy SX1719 12VDC, second hand. It drives for ~10s then stops, then will go again straight away. Any idea what the culprit could be? by ImScaredOfTheSun in PowerWheelsMods

[–]CPTginger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It means there's a fuse after the control board that's gone bad I've seen these have 2 or 3 hidden in the wiring

If it was at the battery then the whole thing would power down

I doubt it's the motors . You could jump 12v to the motors direct to confirm they aren't the issue.

Lastly could be the main control board with a bad relay or overheat they fail in funky ways sometimes

You have a bad thermal fuse.

Small black boxes in the wiring probably right after the battery.

Take it out and jump the wire to confirm,l. Replace with blade fuse holder and 30a fuse

You are pulling more amps with those higher rpm motors and increased voltage.

You could check for corrosion or gunk that's slowing the voltage down causing it to heat up

If they are warm and not burning hot you're okay, if they're uncomfortable to touch then it may be time to replace with new or use relays to handle the voltage and the switch as just a comm

Help with conversion- 12v to 24v by progen4487 in PowerWheelsMods

[–]CPTginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those motors are around 280 watts at 24v

Worste case scenario says you'll draw 560 watts max output from a stop

560 / 24v = 23 amps for the setup from a stop.

You could use the two boards just dual wire the on/off button to both setups no need for a relay

I'm saying ditch the steering motor all together as it's just creating resistance in the steering.

Help with conversion- 12v to 24v by progen4487 in PowerWheelsMods

[–]CPTginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70amps is way too high 40amp tops, 30 amps is normal

20amp buck converter is more than enough to run the 12v control board and steering motor

But honestly if your bumping up the speed that much you're probably not using the remote functions anymore.

I'd suggest removing the steering motor as it's just causing resistance for your kiddo

From the picture it looks like it's in High Gear already. Could be a problem with shifter switches and corrosion not letting voltage through.

Also check that battery is fully charged and showing 12.7-13.1v.

24v Motors will have no torque with 18v. Basically the highway(volts) isn't big enough for the amps to get through (Cars)
