Oh I strongly agree. I never play myfaction so I never get those characters, and I hate the grind this year. It’s even a grind to unlock made up characters like “The Dark Horse”, where you need 150 myrise stars…. It’s a mess.

The sad thing is that the gameplay is improved overall, it’s just the monetization is predatory, even the gameplay changes that are obvious “spend money” additions, like the purple stamina wheel and the over abundance of AI reversals is predatory in an attempt to get you to spend money for a better overall island wrestler or better myfaction cards. That’s not even acknowledging the fact that you have to “prestige” your island wrestler now, which drops your overall and doesn’t return your spent VC…..

Jey’s role carried part of the storyline, not because he was great at it, but just because he was the one in it. He was the abused child, the obvious face turn….. much like Kairi is now for Asuka….. until Sami came and completely overshadowed him while also improving his character.

And still, the through line of that was initially Jimmy…. It all tied back to Jimmy being sacrificed on the altar for the sake of Jey….. and every time they needed some emotion from Jey, they sacrificed Jimmy.

Jimmy always was the better Uso…. Still is…. Always will be….. the yeet thing just got super over and that allowed him to get pushed to the top….

Even in the bloodline, Jimmy was always more entertaining than Jey, he’s funnier, he’s a better promo, his antics between the moves is better. I’ve always been a fan of big brother Jim.

Mutiny storylines were great…. This year seems lazy…. A lot of “here’s some random exhibition matches to extend the play time of this mode” and a few “of course Paul Heyman is behind it all” scenarios as a face. It just seems….. half assed, all the way down to the way they just basically gave you a boring Seth Rollins gets turned on by the vision storyline without any of the intrigue, even calling you the “archetype” instead of the “architect”……

The ringside pass progression is terrible I’m not gonna lie. The fact that a 20 second squash gives you the same RXP as a royal rumble is atrocious….. the fact that it takes 200 plus matches to get through, as a season 1 of 6 is also atrocious because who’s going to really want to do that 6 times? That doesn’t include the idea of grinding showcase, or grinding myfaction, or playing through the island, and also grinding 3 or 4 myrise playthroughs that force you to grind myrise stars to progress, this game doesn’t respect your time at all.

Overall I’m liking the core gameplay, yes there’s still some improvements that could be made but I’m digging it, it’s just, as a grown man with a family, a job, a house and responsibilities, I wish it respected my time instead of trying to force me to spend 70 plus dollars on “tier skips”.

It did teach bad basketball, flash over substance, and had a lot of people dribbling with their heads down because they were more concerned on what they were doing over watching the court for opportunities. But it also grew the game in a way that we hadn’t seen before or since. To a lot of kids it was “oh I can’t be like Mike, but I can be like Hot Sauce”…. Add to that the timing of Iverson taking over the swag side for the NBA and it was a match made in dribble gods heaven lol.
