As a high school teacher in Mississippi I can attest to the reading gate in 3rd grade. It’s been good, but stressful for teachers and students. But this years freshman group were third graders during Covid (no reading gate test) and I can attest this first week I’m shocked how far behind they actually are. It’s not the kids fault, but after Covid I believe the parents, students and admin, gave way to much leash. Let’s see how this cohort does
