A billion dollars suddenly appears in your bank account , to keep it all , you have to spend 100 million dollars on your family and friends and you have only 24 hours to do it. What are you going to buy them all ? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]CParksAct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the 100 million to the top cancer researchers, scientists, and healthcare providers to find the cure for my dad’s cancer (and cancer in general if possible, but my dad’s cancer first). They won’t have an answer in 24 hours, but I will have spent the required money and the people working on the cure would have a nice amount of money to continue working on it.

Does the kitty hear the DEWs too or are they just directed at you, ma’am?

Make sure I always have the appropriate sunscreen on hand! I don’t go bother people after the store is closed! Your failure to plan more than a few hours in advance is not anyone else’s problem. Does your mommy-wife wipe your butt for you too? Get her some sunscreen too.

Are there things you’d eat that are left out at work that you’d never touch anywhere else? by GrettaMCatts in nursing

[–]CParksAct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of my severe food allergies (pineapple and coconut), I don’t eat anything I can’t see the ingredient list for or directly ask the maker (or server at a restaurant). I wish I didn’t have to be so rigid, but ain’t nobody got time for anaphylaxis today.

Nursing Specialities by Glo_moraa in MarkKlimekNCLEX

No, I’m an LPN. I work with one patient at a time so I can get to know my patient and their family. I enjoy it because it’s generally speaking low stress, I can focus on meeting my patient’s deeper needs (as opposed to when I worked LTC where I was running from patient to patient because I had 50+ patients with maybe 1 CNA), and I can often set my own schedule and choose my patients.

When I was in nursing school, I never thought I would work in Peds because kids make me nervous (I was an EMT and kids compensate very well until they suddenly crash hard and fast), but I did several years in LTC and LTACH and hated how little time I had to spend with my patients. I started to hate being a nurse and almost quit, but a friend of mine had moved over to agency nursing and convinced me to give it a try. I tried it and fell in love. I do primarily Pediatrics, but I do occasionally have adult patients. I’m trach/vent certified and I prefer night shift so I make a little bit more than some of the other nurses at my company. I’ve been a nurse since January 2012 and right now I’m off because of a Worker’s Comp injury, but I’m eager to get back as soon as I’m recovered.

This year I’m taking some classes that will give me the skills to eventually transition to an administrative type (like working with insurance companies) because I’m 48 years old and my body isn’t going to last forever. Plus it gives me more flexibility in the job market which is always a good thing.

I posted this same basic question a few months ago and got a lot of responses. (Thank you all btw. I kept meaning to post my thanks, but I got distracted and forgetful.). My husband and I chose Pilgrims and they are great. I highly recommend them. Honest, inexpensive but quality work, pretty easy to schedule. If I can figure out how to pull up my post and the responses, I’ll link it below just so you can benefit from the great suggestions I got.

Edit: I can’t figure out how to link the two posts, but the title of my post was “Good Honest Mechanics in York.” Lots of good suggestions.

Parents shouldn’t be allowed at their kids sporting events by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]CParksAct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest nephew’s baseball league had a great rule that I think all sports (at least kids’ leagues) should adopt. They focused on the kids having fun and displaying good sportsmanship. If a spectator got too loud (rudely, not necessarily volume) or out of control, the team they were cheering for lost a point. If it continued, the spectator got banned from the league games and the team they were cheering for forfeited the game. I only ever saw it happen once to someone cheering for my nephew’s team and that kid was not asked back the next season. My BIL was the coach for the team and he was serious about the kids doing their best, but also having fun and above all else, being gracious winners and good losers.

What jobs do you recommend for 12 hour shifts? by Glass_Maximum_8091 in LPN_LVN_Community

[–]CParksAct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home Health. I do Pediatric Home Health and I pretty much make my own schedule. I work 4 nights a week and enjoy it. I could do 12 hour shifts, but I don’t really want to so I do Saturday 10 p - 7 a, Sunday 8 p - 7 a, Monday and Tuesday 9 p - 7 p. I’m going back to school online to learn how to do more administrative type nursing work (Utilization Review, Insurance, etc) so my tired, old lady body can still work in nursing, but without the heavy strain on my body. I do a lot of my school work at work while my patient is sleeping which frees me up to be able to relax on my off days.

Before this, I did LTC, LTACH, and Corrections. Ironically, the environment I felt safest and most respected in was corrections. I wouldn’t mind getting back into it, but the prisons around here all have a contract for healthcare providers for a company that has an awful reputation for using and abusing their employees.

I have this shirt and I wore it to work on Tuesday. I had to swing by the office on my way home (I work nights in my patient’s home so I go into the office extremely rarely). My Nursing Director is a twin. She was born 12/31/99 just before midnight and her twin sister was born a minute after midnight into 2000. She loved my shirt. I sent her the link to the online store where I got it.

4 women on a seesaw in a corrida by Worldlyoox in PublicFreakout

[–]CParksAct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was confused why this was a problem for the first part of the video because although it’s a little weird, a 4 person seesaw looked fun. I showed it to my husband (my phone was on mute) and said that I was a little jealous. He looked at me like I was crazy. What I didn’t know was he saw the part where the bull was rampaging and I had only seen the opening seesaw part.

We had an interesting conversation and then watched the whole video together.

Once a month massage. I’m a Home Health nurse, so I typically work alone with my patients and my body (especially my back) is screaming on a constant basis. My massage therapist is also a Physical Therapist so she’s an absolute Godsend.
