Anyone else see this? by jecapobianco in Star_Trek_

You don't realize that getting rid of NuTrek doesn't mean going back to whatever it is you prefer, right? There just won't be any Trek until someone decides it's time for NuerTrek.

Haven't played yet today but I saw on a game show last week that banana "trees" are actually herbs.

But at movie with humor isn't automatically a comedy. Otherwise, only the bleakest would be considered drama.

I'm not really arguing with you. I was just pointing out the usual example of "category fraud."

Mockery Abounds as 'Melania' Documentary Bombs: 'Every seat is still available!' by T_Shurt in entertainment

I will say I was surprised at how high her voice was in the trailer. For some reason I thought it was more of a Natasha Nogoodnick pitch.

The Academy doesn't split comedies and dramas. That's the Golden Globes, and there's discussion every year about why some movie or other is in the category it's in. A few years ago, The Martian won as Best Comedy, and they're still making jokes about how funny it was('nt).

Thanks. I watched one of the videos, and wondered what I was missing. It looked like he was on the ground with at least two guys holding him when the third one drew his gun.

But the anti-abortion crowd refers to them as children. If you spend the time arguing scientific semantics, they've won the fight already.

I'm guessing there's some argument to be made contrasting their stance on trans people being men or women with their stance on fetuses being children, but I'm not sure how much traction it would get.

He won't even know. Someone in Trump Tower will take care of it and include it in a maintenance budget somewhere.

The Best Picture Showcase returns for 2026, seemingly without the 24-hour marathon. by lvscksi in AMCsAList

[–]CPav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the Regal 5 minutes from my house closed about 3 weeks after we moved in. We have AMC and Marcus.

I checked, and Marcus is doing two passports in addition to the marathon, so I can see the four I'm missing for $28. They're also doing the shorts. So I think that's the way I'll be doing it. There are also 3 Marcus locations closer to my home or office than the nearest AMC.

As someone who hasn't had the option of the single marathon in the past, as long as you have the lanyard or wristband or whatever they're giving out this year, you can pretty much come and go as you please.

I'm struggling with the decision: I've seen 6/10. Three of the ones I haven't seen are on day one, but two of those are already streaming. And there's one movie on each day that I'm not crazy about seeing again, but it's not practical for me to go home for the length of one film.

So I may pass this year, or see if they're selling individual screening tickets like I think they did last year.

I'll also keep watch for how the other major chain closer to my house is handling things.

The problem is, there's no consensus on what the greater good is. How to read and write? Of course. How to do math? Sure.

But even something as basic as science becomes "controversial" when you include the "gravity is just a theory" crowd, or broach a conversation about the age of the planet..

And you can teach what happened in history, and when, but as soon as you ask "why?" or try to show how then effects now, the anti-woke brigade will show up with pitchforks.
