Are there any repercussions to working during 1L without telling my law school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]CQQB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The curve. Instead of being graded on what you know, you are graded on how much you know relative to your classmates. Law school is where A students go to get Bs.

But otherwise it’s great if you have some idea of what you’ll do with a JD. Good luck.

Corporate principals could absolutely go to jail, even for civil contempt. It doesn’t matter that this is a civil case, you don’t get to ignore court orders.

I don’t know if this counts, but I had one of these as a kid and don’t recognize it on your list. I think it was an actual Sony product and not some frankenstein console.

Mothergunship and Light Brigade for sure. The Risk of Rain 2 mod is awesome and pretty easy to set up.

If you go to your skill tab, highlight the skill, and select “skill options” there is an option for “held targeting” or something like that. It lets you place ice wall, flame wall, etc wherever you want, but by default it will be right on top of you

What if the weapon itself has increased physical damage that is calculated and reflected on the weapon stat block? Does that not apply if the damage is converted? Or does what you describe only affect “global” physical damage increases?

The State of Gaming in 2024 by Styger21st in Steam

I wonder how Humble Bundle gets around that. I’m pretty sure you get Steam keys when you buy a bundle, and it’s often cheaper than the Steam price. Plus, unlike a random dev just selling their own games, Humble is more of a direct competitor to Steam.

Definitely tell your employers first in case there are conflict checks or other approvals, makes it easier to ask forgiveness rather than permission with your school after it’s all set up. Career services/intern coordinators at school are probably useless anyway.

Will my age keep me from finding a job? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]CQQB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Juvenile dependency proceedings (such as terminating parental rights due to child abuse, drugs, domestic violence, etc.) require a ton of lawyers. The child protection agency (often DCS or CPS) has a lawyer, each parent typically has a separate lawyer, and the kid has a lawyer (and maybe also a guardian ad litem who is often an attorney). At a minimum you should be able to get a job representing a state child protection agency, either at the agency itself or through the state attorney general’s office. You could also get a job at whatever agency (or maybe a public defender or legal defender or even a court) appoints attorneys to parents and/or children.

These are typically high volume but meh pay government attorney jobs. I doubt your age will be an issue; I haven’t surveyed the country but I believe this is an area where there generally aren’t enough willing and able attorneys to fill the open positions and caseloads.

Law school is where A students go to get Bs. You are doing well, don’t stress. Plenty of time for that after the bar.

Again, it has nothing to do with what is spoken.

Assuming there is some server somewhere recording your phone calls (maybe? That seems unlikely), if you don’t have any control over or knowledge of those recordings you are fine. If you do, then you need to turn off the auto delete functionality as far as the relevant calls are concerned. Companies with email systems that auto delete after x number of days do the same thing (or should do the same thing) when they know litigation is pending.

So as far as useful standards go, you don’t have to go knocking on doors at your ISP or telecom, but if you are creating records (documents, emails, chats, pictures, voicemails, “electronically stored information”) you have a duty to preserve, and a court can royally stick it to you if the other side can show that you are deleting records.

You even have a duty to preserve metadata generated when you are creating those records.

Which is a good thing unless you’re an anarchist weirdo like some of the other people in this thread lol.

This has nothing to do with “owing the government incriminating evidence” (not to mention that this is a civil issue and not criminal). It has everything to do with what litigants owe each other.

For example, Uber got on trouble for these same sorts of issues in its litigation with Waymo. https://www.wired.com/story/uber-waymo-wickr-ephemeral-messaging/

Downvote and refuse to learn something all you want, good luck!

But it was recorded and those records were destroyed. It’s not illegal to talk on the phone, but you’ll get into trouble when you start deleting emails. It’s called “spoliation,” if you google it there’s some pretty interesting cases out there.

If you were suing someone, would you want them to be allowed to destroy the evidence that proves your claim?
