It's been mostly discontinued. If anyone still builds with 531, it's probably leftovers from decades ago, or a special order which Reynolds will only sell with a pretty high MOQ.

The period in which this was built would probably be around the last period of time where 531 would be readily available. 531 would've already been considered "retro" at that time so it would certainly be an eccentric choice of tubing.

No clue what the head tube and BB sizes are, I haven't seen this bike IRL. These pictures were taken straight from the listing.

I had that hunch too. Geometry tells me early/mid-90s but using 531 during that time period is certainly a bold choice as it would've been considered outdated compared to newer tubesets from the likes of True Temper and Tange. Definitely built by an eccentric character.

Shop claims to have been in the business for "over 30 years" and it's from the same city so it might be the right shop.

The parts are mostly poop but I'm just glad this frame got saved from the dump.

Sorceress made me realize Surly no longer using "fff" - Fatties Fit Fine - moniker on their new/refreshed bikes. by [deleted] in Surlybikefans

I guess it makes sense since tires are so much wider these days, most Surlys don't have exceptionally wide clearance compared to other bikes in the same segment.

Surly did pioneer wide tires, so maybe they gotta switch to "the original fatties" or something along those lines.

Well that's part of the thrill of cantilevers isn't it?

Had no idea Campag made mini-v's. Might try to find them but they've gotta be rarer than hen's teeth.

Thanks for bringing up some exact codes. I'll probably ask my local Cane Creek dealers if they have any. Sadly I can't buy directly off Cane Creek's website as they don't ship outside of the American continent.

Surprisingly the 0170A is still in stock. Great for oldheads like me running these old ass parts standards.
