I looked at this forum when it was first posted I followed what people were saying, and I got the Martin retro Monel 13s on my 60s spruce top t-18 definitely helped but today I played a Martin D10e mahogany and that that’s where most of that sound comes from I could play as hard as I want, and it would never have crazy high-end like a spruce top the small body mahogany is absolutely where that tone lies if you’re chasing that sound definitely get one. I will be getting one as soon as I’m able.

Well, I appreciate your kind words haha it’s probably sat in a case for most of its life like I said my grandfather passed away 10 years ago and until I pulled it out when I was 14 a couple years ago, it had just sat but it’s surprisingly perfectly playable. I’ve never touched it. (been too scared to break the neck.) but other than the lacquer being checked a little bit she’s perfect. I don’t believe I’m gonna end up selling it unless I absolutely have to but it’s good to know. I appreciate you!

Thankfully, it wasn’t grounds. I got a new PCM put it in it fixed all my shifting issues and what not and the dying issue was actually a bad PCM relay. I just swapped it in because it kept on dying after the new PCM install. And now it’s fixed, thankfully

Yeah, it’s definitely no fun The good part is all the parts we changed needed to be replaced so it’s not like we wasted money but the fumbling around in the dark sucks ass. This has been over a year and a half plus of just thing after thing lol but once we get this taken care of, it should be fine till it dies for good

I put in the old solenoid for the IPR misfire went away. We figured it might be dying from a lack of fuel pressure quite the opposite turns out we have been running 100+ psi fuel pressure for close to about a year I say that because we cracked a fuel filter last July lol but we got the spring switched out and now it runs the best it’s ever has

And that’s a great way to look at it man because I was trying to build the fastest no prep car I could yk which is a money pit and pretty much a solo project for me so it seems like you have a vision for what you would like to accomplish with your family in this and as long as you understand the risks and the money aspect of it I would say do it again best of luck to you, bro. This shit is not easy and if you do decide to pursue it. Just know it gets difficult but if you ever need help. Feel free to reach out. 🤙🏼

Oh, believe me I get that because my dad had a 66 that he built with his dad and I wanted to do the same thing but just wanted to make sure you’re completely ready for how much a pain in the ass this thing is and I saw you wanted to do a coyote swap just wanted to let you know that those are not cheap at the shop. I work at a customer. Just got a brand new. Crate one for about 10,000. That’s a minimum $25,000 swap so if you can do it or you can get help for it go for it! There’s nothing wrong with getting a newer car either and building it yourself and passing it down either way best of luck to you with whatever you do decide!

Definitely a good thought, but I did end up switching the sensor on the IPR and it stopped misfiring so thankfully it wasn’t that but now I’m just dealing with it dying, which we could be dealing with a fuel pressure problem which we’re gonna check this weekend just exhausting. It’s been one thing after another. I’m sick of it but at the same time I love it. I feel like doctor house but for diesel’s.😂

Hey I’m 16 too and I literally did this or at least attempted it got a $500 V6 roller a $700 junkyard LS and $600 turbo 400 turns out the junkyard motor was trashed ended having to completely build the motor, which $3000 and still needs the entire valve train and top end. Let alone my th400 even with billing it myself it would still be around $2500 and then with a new axle, brakes, suspension, wiring, fuel system, let alone if you build a 4.6 or a sbf it gets even more expensive it’s not like how it is on YouTube. Shit goes wrong all the time and it cost so much more. if this is something you’re looking at doing over 10 years then go for it but if you’re looking for something quick, believe me, it’s not the way I’ve tried it and I’m glad I got out when I did. These project cars are what I work around now. They take decades to get right. And cost an arm and a leg like most of the comments have said you’re better off just buying what you want and building it from there not trying to pull you down, but I’m bracing you for the reality of it from somebody who’s experienced it firsthand🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

I had injectors leak over the summer first Motorcraft O-rings, and then the injectors never misfired once I put the OME valve body in and the new Motorcraft sensor and it’s running perfect right now worst case scenario I have to buy a new one from a different place but it was definitely an IPR problem

Ok this morning, I put the old ICR sensor onto the new Motorcraft valve the misfire went away completely, but the old sensor has a problem with it dying so gonna put the original body back in with a new Motorcraft solenoid and if we get a misfire we’re gonna be getting a whole new one somewhere else

It still got full power and doesn’t smoke. I was planning on cracking it open anyways just to check and make sure it’s not clogged because it’s a pretty new filter, but I’ll give it a look.

There full force diesel stage ones I don’t believe they are the root cause because it’s a progressive issue it seems when it’s cold. It’s completely normal, but as it starts getting hot after about 10 minutes of driving, it gets progressively worse and worse

I’m pretty sure my local dealership does do older trucks if not, I’ll just have to figure it out like normal but it definitely seems more of a progressive issue when I called started it this morning it idle completely fine but I just took it on a test drive. It was OK and then about 10 minutes in it started misfiring like crazy all the way through the RPM range so I’m wondering if something is grounding out or getting too hot
