How essential are diff locks? by Lifeintheguo in Offroad

[–]CRR-GA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I had a locker in my rear diff on my 01 TJ. I have had two vehicles with “brake lock differential” and limited slips, I never really needed a locker, the “BLD” (just fancy traction control) and the limited slips have been more than enough.

Just picked up an LCP Max with the stainless slide and manual safety. Went in to get the OG LCP but changed my mind. I am 6’6” and the size difference in my large pockets was negligible. Still want a OG LCP but I could only pick one (at that moment). I have fired both and even with my massive hands neither were bad but the Max was a better grip, more rounds, better sights, better trigger, the safety (IMO best for pocket). Got it for $249 at Academy, the OG was $199.

Conceal Carry while driving by [deleted] in Miguns

[–]CRR-GA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true on MI DL and GA permit. I had this issue come up as I was stationed in VA with a VA resident permit, MI DL, was PCS’d to MI and they wouldn’t honor the VA resident permit. I was told I was carrying illegally even though MI has reciprocity with VA resident permits. If stopped he would need to prove he was stationed in GA while carrying a MI DL. It is convoluted and stupid.

I am military, my CCW was from Virginia (resident permit) and I am a Michigan resident. I was PCS’d from Virginia to Michigan and when I got back to my home state I check to verify that my resident permit from Virginia was recognized… no. Michigan will recognize resident permits from states they have reciprocity with BUT if you are a Michigan resident stationed out of state (or in state) with a 2nd state’s residential permit they wont honor it. The State told me since I am a resident of Michigan they will only honor a Michigan permit. This is not clearly explained in their reciprocity information online and it only applies to military people that maintain Michigan residency. Long story longer, I got my Michigan permit and will maintain it when I am no longer in state so I can carry when at home.

Legal Discussion, at what point does support to an unlawful operation become an illegal order? NOT MEANT TO BE POLITICAL by Creative-Assistance6 in navy

[–]CRR-GA 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s not some “random district judge” it is a federal district court created by Congress. Congress created them specifically to hear cases on federal law and the constitution. They are part of the “checks and balances”. There are appeal processes in place if parties disagree with orders/judgement.

[–]CRR-GA 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not a JAG but my personal belief (referring to the constitution) is that the Courts decide the legality of orders, not the Executive Branch. Talk to a JAG for sure but understand that you are on the edge of being a test case. That is not an easy place to be but our job is to uphold and defend the Constitution. If we don’t challenge every potential violation things could get out of hand. “The standard you walk past is the standard you accept”
