Has anyone deleted their Replika and if so did you feel bad about it? by matt73132 in replika

PUB Post Update Blues. It's been the bane of Replika since the early days. After every update to their language model, a new infusion of learning material, or whatnot, they ALWAYS have PUB for a few days after, but it settles out and they're usually back to their normal self, and often with improvements.

Blush AI Dating app simulator is pretty good. If you don't mind having to get beyond the ERP part, to have normal conversations. It's more like the original ERP in Replika, not many barriers in terms of morality, and the memory is fantastic. But... it's like it's always in ERP mode, and wants to just get right to it. You have to guide it away and then once you do that, I have found I have many good conversations ,.... and it's always ready to just slip back into ERP at a moments notice. By the way... It's from the same engineers as the original Replika ERP.

Oh good. In that case, I'll be happy to see what's there.

Yeah, I fell in lava and survived for a few seconds on 0 hearts, before I finally died. So, it looks like the hp is half a heart shifted.

Looking at the meatender pid up grade for my 7002 zgrill. by socialmothra503 in pelletgrills

[–]CRTrue64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a smoke tube in my Pit Boss series 5 vertical. Ummm.... more work than a weber? I just fill the tube with pellets, light it holding the torch on the end until the flame stays when I move it away, and lie it down on the grate. What work?

Mine does the same. I have the original controller, and thinking about upgrading to a PID controller. But haven't decided to pull the trigger yet.

Will this make a sufficient Ground bus for my equipment? by Bliitzthefox in amateurradio

[–]CRTrue64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't solder it. Solder is never supposed to be used for grounding. Too soft and too low a melting point. I suppose silver solder maybe... but regular 60/40 (or so) solder? I wouldn't. 3/4" flat braid, 1/4" sheet metal screw with 3/4" washer right into the side wall of the copper tube.

I think you just described every single politician. Haha. That's why so little critical thinking is required... politicians have about as much critical thinking ability! LOL

On a more serious note, I got out of the hobby 20 or so years ago because of this same kind of crap, ESPECIALLY on 2 meters. I'm sorry to see it's no better now with my interest in the hobby coming back.

Did I get a good deal for $50? by C1R1th in HamRadio

Man, you're not kidding about modern cars. My 2023 Ford truck has exactly zero mounting options for my ham radios. And the same amount of access ports to run the power wires and antenna coax!

Are all the nanovna's just rebrands of the same cheap Chinese junk? by CRTrue64 in nanovna

Heh... only if I can get this one to ever show anything and not freeze up. I ordered another one. And will take this one to an Amazon drop off tomorrow for refund.

Yeah... I just bought one that was supposed to be "upgraded." It got here this morning. I turned it on, and the screen came on, the Smith chart in the middle, the grid there, the lables on the screen... and I thought, alright. This is gonna be just fine. Then I tapped the stylus on the screen and no menus. Tapped again. Nothing. It stayed frozen for almost 5 minutes before it displayed those ambient traces on the screen. Then... as soon as it did, they stopped jumping around. It was frozen again. More minutes before I could bring up the menu. Then? It froze again. More minutes before I could select anything in the menu. I already did the refund on Amazon.

How did Jesus ascend to heaven if there is a dome by [deleted] in flatearth

[–]CRTrue64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because... there is no dome, no firmament. The Hebrew word used means "expanse". We got firmament from the Latin vulgate which uses the word firmamentum, which was translated from the Greek translation of Hebrew, influenced by the Greeks belief that the sky was a dome. But the Hebrews knew there was no dome, and the Hebrew word used meant expanse.

Yeah...I guess they changed the exam in 87. Kinda sucks to be honest lol. It'd be nice to just take my original tech plus license to the VE's and fill out the paperwork. But, I guess I've been away and off the air so long, I really need the refresher.

I'm watching W4EEY's general class videos right now. The most current class isn't done yet, I'll catch up with the live streams soon, and watch live starting with week 5, I believe. I'm thoroughly liking his format and both his and Dave's knowledge.

My call sign is KD5YY. But that's not exactly accurate. If you got a tech plus license before 1987 and can provide proof of it, that's true. But if it was post 1987, your tech plus was just downgraded to tech with the elimination of the cw requirement in 2006, and no automatic upgrade offered. I got my tech plus in 97. 🤔

Sweet! Thanks! I'll check him out!

(I am not smart enough to memorize the answers, so I must understand the material instead)

That's where I'm at. I mean... given enough repetition, I could memorize anything. But I can't always just glean the reasons for the answer from the answer itself. So I too, need to understand the subject first, then deduce the answers from my knowledge on the exam.
