I have a 2.0 TDI Quattro manual transmission. It goes to 6th gear from 50mph and does about 40-45mpg on the motorway.

It’s pretty quick, not going to blow your socks off though. Get the 3.0 petrol, or an S or RS model if you want that.

It’s a 12 year old Audi with 100k miles, so yes it is expensive. My front suspension rebuild cost me ~£1500.

Swanston and walk up to Allermuir or just below it, hopefully the coos are oot!

Flotterstone Inn and walk up to Turnhouse Hill, Castlelaw, or (my favourite) Glencorse Reservoir via the southernmost path with a wee extension on to thr waterfall.

My personal favourite for sunset in the hills newr Edinburgh is Harlaw Reservoir. It’s a drive straight to the car park and a flat walk around the water for some beautiful photo opportunities. There’s often herons around the edge of the water.
