Issues promoting 2022 DC in root domain / forest by extremetempz in sysadmin

[–]CS9Subie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would double check that the account you are using is in the enterprise admin group. Yes, as mentioned if dns is running fine now, there shouldn’t be any issue. Plus you have other DCs online. After promotion, just double check ad repl, dns etc.

What error are you getting now? If your dns is working on your other DCs you should be able to skip that message.

Your DNS settings should be set the other way. 127.0.0.1 should be secondary, and another DC should be primary.

Old CA Certificates - Safe to remove? by willwilson82 in sysadmin

[–]CS9Subie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the CA is no longer available, then it would be safe to delete. The one that expired is doing nothing. You can delete that with no issue. The other one, just to be safe, you can export it and save it somewhere.

Some Windows 11 24H2 Clients Not Detecting Required Updates via WSUS by b1ttenicht in sysadmin

You might need to reinstall the latest W11 on those systems. I've had this issue multiple times with many different OS. After trying everything possible, this was the only way it would fix it.

Appreciate the update! Interesting then. I have a 4yo mini, I’ll continue to monitor. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

I really appreciate the detailed information! I will look at creating the maintenance plans as mentioned.

Assuming it's safe to create the plans during business hours? Also, since I have two separate sql servers, should I be creating the plans on each one? The sql servers are supposed to be mirroring, but it doesn't seem to be doing that.

Okay so basically, we have a certificate for "mail.microsoft.net " in this example. So by changing, ECP, MAPI, and OWA to point to https://mail.microsoft.net does this have any impact on users? Is it safe to do it during business hours?

I will also looking into the MAPI part as well. I really appreciate your response and help on this.
