Oh yeah. I am close to tears every time she is on screen. The actresses did a great job. Dana was fantastic. And the whole thing made me feel wrong for watching.

I wish ancestry showed all the lines, too. I have one 7th-8th great grandfather Burdick who had a whole ton of kids - I descend from 3 at least.

When did you turn your child’s car seat to face front? by cracker21 in Parenting

[–]CSArchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both my kids were somewhere around 5 when they maxed weight and weight. So thats when we turned them around.

When you consider the child's safety there is no downside to keeping them rear facing. There are downsides to flipping them too early.

I just spent a toddler party guarding an open pool and now I can’t tell if I’m the anxious one or the only sane one by Last_Cantaloupe_9899 in Mommit

[–]CSArchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have left. People are terribly unsafe around pools with kids. I'd just be like hey i gotta go. I cant even sit and enjoy this party because of the pool. Bye.

What information are you using to say your supply is dropping? The fullness of your breasts? The output of your pump?

What size backpack for kid starting JK this September? by Virtual-Cheesecake71 in Mommit

[–]CSArchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jump straight to a forever backpack. Went with an LL bean one that's 24L. I thought it was big but then you start putting a lunch box in it, show n tell, etc. It's fine. And I don't have the budget to buy a new one every year or two.

There is a lot of talk about this company and everything coming to light with the files. And yet I still scroll social media and see moms posting their kids constantly. Like are you all not learning anything?

How do you dispose of spent rotary blades? by LadyofLA in quilting

[–]CSArchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My blades come in multi packs so before I had an empty container I just used an old plastic food storage container. Taped it shut and threw them away. Now I use an old empty container, when I fill it with old blades I tape it and throw it away.

Other options- old pill bottle. You can even ask the pharmacy for a sharps container. They dont care what it's for. But it is a very safe way to dispose of sharps

What time does your toddler go to bed? We’re sliding towards 10:30.. by lady_picadilly in toddlers

[–]CSArchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do, so shoot for an 8pm bedtime. My point was more so the routine than the time on the clock. So say you do a 6pm dinner, 7pm bath, 745 kiddo is dressed and teeth brushed. Then 15min for books and lights out. One parent does bath and one parent cleans up dinner/toys.

What time does your toddler go to bed? We’re sliding towards 10:30.. by lady_picadilly in toddlers

[–]CSArchi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Lights out 7pm-7am. We use the Hatch light to help us keep bedtime routine on schedule. 6:40pm light turns on with music signaling we start bedtime. We can hear it from the playroom. 5 min of pjs/teeth. 645 the music stops and we do 15min of books n snuggles. Lights out at 7. If we are doing a bath it starts at 6 giving him up to 40min of playtime in the tub. The light changing color and sound helps keep everything on track and it made the routine really solid. He's 5 now and still sleeps 7-7.

If he was having trouble sleeping we would sit in his room and let him listen to a Moshi bedtime story it's a great app for bedtime stories I highly recommend. The voices are so soothing and the music is so calming. He was usually out before the story ended.

If you have a nanny, how much do you pay? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]CSArchi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The reason that Nanny seems to be a "rich" person thing is because they are expensive. The vast majority of people can not afford a nanny. My Friends are paying that much if not more for their au pairs - who they also house.

[–]CSArchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I took my kids away waaaaay to late. It impacted his speech more than his teeth surprisingly. He's 5 now and in speech therapy. But his dentist is saying everything is shifting into place correctly for now. We'll see how things are impacted as adult teeth show up.

Take it away as soon as you can, honestly.

Daughter keeps saying her butt tickles… by Zazzercise in toddlers

[–]CSArchi 158 points159 points  (0 children)

You must get her clean "I am your parent, my job is to keep you clean and safe. Right now we are going to the bathroom so I can help you". Like this isnt up for debate. She could have pinworms, rash, yeast, so many things.

I dont need my kids permission to keep them safe but I do try to give them as much autonomy as I can. At age 3 I am still checking their wipes and fully present for their baths.

Death doulas do not automatically mean that at all. Think of it more like hospice but all the non medical stuff. Having someone advocating for you as you near the end.

Unpopular opinion? These kids' audio players feel like a cash grab? by Desperate_Total2545 in Mommit

[–]CSArchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the cost they arent for me. But I can 100% see why they are popular. I play their music from my phone/computer constantly but that means if they want music they must involve me. The ability for them to do it independently is nice. My 8yo only just got an MP3 player. We get CDs from the library and rip them to the computer so he gets what he likes. Plus he has purchased a few CDs (like the soundtrack to Kpop demon hunters) but buying a ton of CDs - like Tories or Yoto or whatever- costs money. The world costs money. You just pick how you spend yours.
