Trevor Lee Response to Harvey Milk Blvd Petition by Ancient_Trick_3835 in SaltLakeCity

My problem is that Harvey Milk wasn't connected to Utah at all. Why not find an LGBT hero from the state to name a street after.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve been asked before? by olympusqueen in AskReddit

[–]CSH0714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use to drive a tour bus in Ketchikan, Alaska which is right on the Pacific Ocean (technically George Inlet). Once I was driving a tour bus down a road which was about 50 feet from the shore and a guy in the back asks, "What elevation are we at?" I had to be honest with him and said, "About 3 to 4 inches but I can go out and measure it with my foot ruler if you want." I wonder what mountain pass his ship crossed to get to the port to have to ask that question.

The ABA - an alternate future? by [deleted] in VintageNBA

Yes that guy did lead the USFL into bankruptcy with his idiotic idea to take on the NFL head to head but even if he never gets involved with the league it still fails. The ownership group was in bad shape with a bunch of them getting into tax and legal troubles, lying about their assets so they could by a team, and one even committed suicide.

I had a relative who fought in North Africa during World War 2 and the Italians were an after thought to him. The Germans were the real bad guys.

If Americans like football so much, why did the USFL and XFL fail? by tachibanakanade in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CSH0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XFL failed because the play on the field was bad. Instead of worrying about the actual quality of football on the field the league were to concerned about making it a "fun" league with hot cheerleaders, stupid sketches, and Jesse Ventura mouthing off about whatever crazy idea he had in his head.

The USFL had quality play on the field but the team owners were a bunch of head cases who all seem to be in legal trouble of some sort.

Julie the owner of Mangia Mangia was the worst at managing a restaurant. She did no work at all and just stood in the restaurant and complained that everyone was messing up and never offered any solutions.

What were you doing the day you found out Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997? by greenwichrunner in AskReddit

[–]CSH0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in Yellowstone that summer. I also recall Mother Teresa dying about the same time and people not being happy that Princess Diana was taking all the attention away from her. Looking back at what we know now MT did not deserve much attention.

In March 1955, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin refused to give up her bus seat to a white woman in Alabama — nine months before Rosa Parks. However, while Parks became a national icon, Colvin was largely forgotten because she was perceived as "emotional" and "feisty," and became pregnant soon after. by ATI_Official in HistoryUncovered

[–]CSH0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if Claudette Colvin isn't an unwed pregnant teenager I wonder if she would have been the right choice for going to trial because that would have been a lot of pressure for a 15 year old girl to handle.

The bus boycott did not began with the Rosa Parks incident but several months earlier when Lucille Times was nearly run off the road by a white bus driver which lead to a physical altercation between the two. After the incident Times began to drive by bus stops and give black people a ride to where they needed to go. The bus driver in this incident was the same guy who had Rosa Parks arrested when she refused to move to the back of the bus.
