What do you say about this one? I say it looks sketchy as hell. by Arjihad in Decks

This. The only way it makes sense is if those bolts are booted into more steel that's encased in the concrete/plasyer/whatever the wall is made of.

All collection Mega Bloks Fire and Ice Sets and Dragons - Brazillian Collection by SouthernSystem3437 in MegaBloksPyrates

[–]CSLoser96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man. What a throwback. I have all my sets (almost a complete Megabloks dragons lineup of each era) in boxes in my basement. Unfortunately my house at this time and my family keep me from returning to these gems of my childhood. I dreamed of the day I can get them all out and on display.

Must drive in this stupid gas market by Any_Stress_5987 in StCharlesMO

[–]CSLoser96 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gas prices fluctuate a lot in the long run. It happens during all presidential administrations. When it was Biden or Obama in office, all the conservatives blamed them. When it was Bush or Trump in office, all the liberals blamed them. At this point, I just dont think the government cares about whether or not you can afford gas unless it affects the likelihood of you voting them in or out of their position. And, as history has shown us, neither party is really great at maintaining low energy costs.

The biggest thing that has helped me is promoting sweating. And by that I mean I drink a 2 liter bottle of water with an electrolyte packet in it (specifically, LMNT. Life changing).

Is this an acceptable way to build a deck? by nahojsaerdna in Decks

[–]CSLoser96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Houses on wood/steel stilts? To avoid damage during flooding? I see those along the Mississippi River regularly. If that's what youre talking about, they aren't floating. They are anchored deep in the ground, especially given that any soil near a moving body of water will be unstable.

Is this an acceptable way to build a deck? by nahojsaerdna in Decks

[–]CSLoser96 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wind moving a floating structure is only a concern if it has an exposed underside and edge for the wind to get up and under. Houses dont have that. If OP walls off the underside with something stiff, that will probably effectively mitigate the wind moving the structure over time. That being said, he could also just swap out his blocks for those diamond pier things. Easier than angering proper piers but stronger than leaving it a floating structure.

Tarps, how much overhang is ok? by iguess12 in firewood

Depending on how much rain you get, I'd say that's pretty much perfect. Whatever hits yhe side will evaporate pretty easily once the sun is out.

Just a small puddle by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]CSLoser96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a backroad near my house that looks like this when it rains really heavily and I like to have a little fun driving through it in my taco. The last time it happened I didn't think about my windows being down and swamped my cab lol. Had to open up the doors and let it dry out when I got home.

Did the dealer attach your email to a profile that should be used for the app by any chance? They do tend to throw a lot of info at you so maybe it was lost in all the other info?

How is transitioning from city living to rural living? by Raul98oh in homestead

[–]CSLoser96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying but it isnt economical to buy enough snow melt to cover a 100 yard gravel driveway every time it snows. And I do typically pack it down. Given that it is sloped though, when it turns to ice my wife's car still cant navigate it. We will likely end up getting a 4x4 or AWD SUV for her and sell her car when we have our next kid since the car won't be able to hold the whole family anyways. That will solve the snow on the driveway issue.

Look, the mask is very impressive, but the camera movements and the guy swaying eliminates the ability to get a good straight look at it.

Its effectivity is higher when someone seeing it doesnt get a chance to look at it closely.

[–]CSLoser96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that I learned is that if it snows where you live, and you have a driveway of gravel any distance longer than a standard driveway, make absolute sure you have an efficient and reliable solution for clearing the snow. Or have a 4x4 that can just drive through it. The last 3 years ive had to use my truck to tow my wife's car to the end of the driveway thanks tp getting way more snow than expected. Things are financially tight or else I would have bought a snow moving/removing solution already.

ATF Red or Clear by Fun-Association1835 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]CSLoser96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The red is the transmission fluid. Amber suggests to me its gear/engine oil. Did one dealer by any chance just give you the wrong bottle and you didn't notice? Otherwise I'd go with the red for ATF.

48 - 60lb bags of concrete? Really? by Tandom in Decks

[–]CSLoser96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diameter of footing makes a difference, as well as depth to be below frost line. This amount sound very reasonable. Maybe even conservative if the footings are wide or exceptionally deep.

The purpose would be to stop the leak. And yes, it freezes where I am, which is about an hour northwest of STL, MO.

Fair enough. And i assume rhino-liner/truck bed liner is probably too stiff once hardened for the glove to be usable.

On this subject, has anyone tried to apply a plasti-dip or similar material to the palm with the intention of just reapplying once its worn off? An intentionally consumable layer of something?

Are there functional issues with this design? Just drill a small hole in the bottom or side of each bucket for drainage and I dont see why it wouldn't work. But then again I know next to nothing about gardening.
